Mercenary Mayfeld (Bill Burr) shed light on one of the remnant’s earliest offensives against the New Republic when he mentioned participating in Operation: Cinder in “The Believer.” Fans of the Star Wars Expanded Universe of books, comics, and games likely jumped at the reference....

Star Citizen, a multiplayer space simulator, launched on Kickstarter way back in 2012. For context, that’s only a year after Skyrim and Dark Souls released, but it’s still in development and receiving funds from backers, with a staggering $77 million raised in 2020. For comparison, Star Citizen raised $47.7 million in 2019 from crowdfunding and, in 2018, it received a private investment of $46 million. All of this is documented on their website; in total, Star Citizen has raised a grand total of $338 million which they pledge to funnel directly into the development of the game....

Back in August 2018, Monster Hunter World finally came to PC. I spent months holding out for the PC release, planning to opt for the platform I had more friends on, Steam. When it was finally time to party up and start the hunt - I was pretty disappointed. The game itself is fine, maybe one of my favorites, but it ran like absolute hell. Street Fighter 5 is preparing for the release of its second DLC character since its Arcade Edition relaunch. Blanka, the green fighter that debuted in Street Fighter 2, is returning to the franchise. After numerous revamps and remastered editions, Capcom has finally moved on from Street Fighter 4. Street Fighter 5 is less than 24 hours away from release and fans are chomping at the bit to get their hands on the first current-gen release in the series. But, for those who might be on the fence about Street Fighter 5, either because of the DLC plans or simply because they’ve been burned by $60 fighting game purchases in the past, reviews have hit the Internet a day early....

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is the upcoming game from Rocksteady set in the studio’s Arkham universe. The game will throw players into a four-player co-op fight as Harley Quinn, King Shark, Captain Boomerang, and Deadshot face down an evil Superman in DC’s Metropolis (and other members of the Justice League, presumably). One detail in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s one and only trailer appears to reveal a trend in the new game....

After years of DC Comics fans clamoring for a “Snyder Cut” of the 2017 film Justice League without the content re-shot by Joss Whedon following Zack Snyder’s departure due to a family tragedy, it was announced this version of Justice League will come to HBO Max. Now Director David Ayer seems interested in having a similar treatment for his 2016 movie Suicide Squad. Suicide Squad was infamously tampered with by studio executives, who allowed a second version of the DC Comics film to be cut by a trailer house....

Everyone loves a challenge, but there is a fine line between a test of skill and sinking into agonizing misery. Dark Souls and its offshoots are notorious for being unforgiving and downright punishing for players who expect a leisurely experience. Part of role-playing in video games is becoming another person, becoming the hero yourself. Character creator menus expand on this notion. Some creation screens are lackluster, only offering one skin tone and three hair options, while others give such a variety that it can become a bit overwhelming. Having so many options can sometimes be unnecessarily silly or be the inclusivity needed in the video game world. Whether players want to create a monster from scratch or replicate themselves in ways previous games wouldn’t allow, there’s a character creator out there for those needs....

With Hitman 3 set to launch later this month, it’s a good time to look back at where the franchise has come from. As such, VG24/7 interviewed IO communications manager Travis Barbour, where we learned that the briefcase kill was an accident. While the Hitman franchise, as a whole, focuses on things that you wouldn’t necessarily consider humorous, there are elements of the game that were intended to be funny. Travis Barbour said that the thing that IO aims for can be described as “dark humor,” given that we are playing a game where the objective is to assassinate people....

Since it launched last month, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 has proven to be another big hit for Ubisoft, with many fans and critics impressed by the smoothness of the launch. Part of that comes from the experience and lessons learned from the previous game, with many of the previous shortcomings resolved for this sequel (read our Division 2 review). Time to kill and enemy behavior were tough to balance in the first game and while things seem to work better in The Division 2, there are some areas of concern....

Without a doubt, Tom Clancy’s The Division fans are incredibly excited about the direct followup to the third-person shooter coming out next year, as the sequel has already managed to set a beta registrations record for Ubisoft.
