It’s 2020, and everything sucks. Pretty much all traditional media is gone, including late-night talk shows. Well, all talk shows except for one. Animal Talking is a talk show that’s hosted in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I’ll give you a minute to just let that sink in incase you haven’t heard about it before now. Done? Great. ‘Cause this is where things get weird. The show is hosted in Gary Whitta’s basement in New Horizons (he’s the guy who co-wrote The Walking Dead: The Game and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and it’s got everything you’d expect from a late-night talk show: the cityscape wallpaper, the big desk and a couch, the ferns, the intro music, and even a sidekick manning the drums so he can let out a rimshot whenever Whitta cracks a joke....

Craig Mazin - producer for the upcoming Last Of Us HBO series adaptation - has hailed The Last Of Us Part II as one of the best games he’s ever played. He’s certainly not alone either, as many have praised Part II in a similar fashion since its release nearly a week ago. Of course, there’s also a large chunk of players who hold the opposite opinion - predictable, thanks to the game’s controversial and rather bold story decisions....

HBO has confirmed the all-important casting of Joel and Ellie first for its The Last of Us adaptation. Attention now turns to the supporting roles of the game, and one actor from the hit 2013 action-adventure has revealed who he wants to play his character in the upcoming series. Actor Jeffrey Pierce - who played Tommy Miller in Naughty Dog’s seminal title and its sequel - was asked a few questions by a fan on Twitter, one being who he wanted to see play Tommy in HBO’s series....

During a recent interview with BBC Radio 5, Craig Mazin opened up about his new show, an adaptation of Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us, and how its purpose will always be to expand upon the original story, never compromise it. The series, which will be premiering on HBO, is being produced and written by Mazin along with Neil Druckmann, the creative director behind The Last of Us franchise. Mazin, a massive fan of the games himself, spoke during the interview that the goal for the series was to never backtrack what the games built for themselves....

The infamous rocket-firing Boba Fett action figure prototype is up for auction…but it will cost you. With the possible exception of getting to own a living, breathing Baby Yoda, the most exciting Star Wars item for collectors is the rocket-firing Boba Fett. Why? Because the item was never commercially available. As explained in an episode of Netflix’s The Toys That Made Us and spoken about with hushed reverence online and at fandom conventions for decades, a figure of the popular bounty hunter who made his debut in the otherwise regrettable Star Wars Holiday Special was announced for sale in 1978 with an incredible action feature — a red rocket that users could fire at other toys, siblings, pets, etc....

The long-awaited trailer for Star Wars Battlefront 2’s single player campaign released this morning, with just under a month left before the online multiplayer shooter’s launch. The trailer focuses on protagonist Iden Versio, commander of the Inferno Squad within the Imperial Special Forces, but teases certain major characters who will also be featured. Sadly, no gameplay is included in the trailer, but hopefully that means more trailers will be coming soon....

Using the SweetFX mod, Youtuber Jackfrags runs Star Wars Battlefront in stunning 4K at 60FPS, making the space shooter nearly indistinguishable from real life. In the lead-up to Star Wars Battlefront’s November 17th release date, anticipation for the game was red hot. But now, with the title just shy of a month on the shelves, fan reception seems to have cooled. Gamers expecting a game that continued the beloved Pandemic Studios series were instead greeted with a relatively barebones first person shooter that seemed to lack depth....

After launching a few months ago, Star Wars Squadrons has gone on to become a big hit for EA’s Motive Studio. Primarily focused on immersive space battles between the Empire and New Republic, Star Wars Squadrons is a unique EA game in that it isn’t full priced and the studio made the decision to not rely on downloadable content or live service content. Instead the game takes the old school approach by offering fans everything from day one with plenty of unlockables to be had....

It’s easy to spend hours in the mountain region of Stardew Valley. There’s a body of water to do some prime fishing in, a huge quarry of stones and minerals to collect, resident carpenter Robin’s home and shop, the Adventurer’s Guild, and of course the Mines. Many riches and artifacts lay deep within the mines, though so do dangerous monsters. It’s a lucrative activity that keeps players coming back for more, even when they’ve reached the 120th floor....

State of Decay 3 is currently in development by Undead Labs, which were acquired by Microsoft back in 2018. While State of Decay has always been a Microsoft console exclusive, Undead Labs hasn’t been a first-party Microsoft publisher until a few years ago, which means this time around it has some serious money behind it. That doesn’t mean previous iterations of State of Decay have been lacking, those two games were very well-made for the budget that they were made on....

A quick tally of my personal Steam library reveals an extremely average value of a few thousand bucks. That’s around the 50th percentile of all users on Steam after roughly 15 years of PC gaming. Nothing to write home about. But what about the most supreme Steam user? FIFA 21 is giving players the option of turning the game’s soundtrack off in order to avoid copyright infringements while streaming. This follows a very controversial cleanup by Twitch. The streaming platform has been deleting videos on the back of pressure from the music industry pertaining to songs being heard during videos that obviously aren’t paid for. Streamers have been forced to remove gaming footage featuring various songs from their channels, with some undergoing the painstaking task of getting rid of years of work....

While she’s not an official addition to Street Fighter 5’s roster, a fan of both Capcom’s fighting game and of Nintendo’s Metroid franchise has now created a new mod that adds Samus Aran in her Zero Suit to the PC version of the former title’s cast of brawlers. The creation comes courtesy of the modder Khaledantar666, who used Street Fighter 5’s Cammy as the base model, and the results are quite impressive....

First Estel, and then Max, and now Shiva will be the last new playable character added in the upcoming Mr. X. Nightmare DLC for Streets of Rage 4. Streets of Rage fans will already be intimately familiar with Shiva, the Asian-American martial artist that has been in every Streets of Rage since 2. Shiva first appeared as Mr. X’s personal bodyguard as the penultimate boss of Streets of Rage 2, then he shows up again as the first boss in Streets of Rage 3, apparently having been demoted to mere street enforcer....

With the recent release of Super Mario 3D All-Stars, many old and new players have recently been able to reexperience the intense size and difficulty of Super Mario Sunshine. There are several infamous areas like the slippery Sand Bird level, but most completionists are sure to tell you the hardest objectives are the 240 Blue Coins spread throughout the game. Collecting them all is primarily tricky thanks to the lack of in-game checklists of which ones you’ve collected, making many of them nearly impossible to find while others take a great amount of challenge....

Telltale Games, developer of The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us has released another teaser for its upcoming adaption of Game of Thrones and it seems to lend further credibility to a theory that the game will be set in the the vast north of Westeros. The teaser was shared in the form of an image on the developer’s Twitter account. The quote in the picture is from the third chapter in the first book of A Song of Ice and Fire, Game of Thrones....

Last year, Tencent either invested in or purchased outright 31 game companies, and it doesn’t look like the Chinese juggernaut is slowing down in 2021. Most recently, Tencent purchased Spec Ops: The Line developer Yager in June, and purchased minority stakes in Life is Strange dev Dontnod Entertainment and Lost Souls Aside dev UltiZero Games. On top of that, there were rumors earlier this year that Tencent had its eye on one of the big video game publishers like Take-Two or EA....
