This Swamp Thing review contains spoilers. Damn, this show deserves a better fate. I have wanted to avoid focusing on the negative too much, but we are at the halfway point of Swamp Thing’s first, and currently only, season, and things are picking up – but I am skeptical whether we’ll get a satisfying conclusion (even thought the finale was supposedly reworked to provide closure). “Drive All Night,” (yet another Springsteen song title turned episode title) is a visually exciting ghost story with a creepy tone, and a plot that drives Abby’s arc forward....

Swamp Thing episode 6, titled “The Price You Pay” sees the coming together of human threats while Swampy moves closer to embracing the Green, the Blue Devil almost arrives, and the Phantom Stranger shows up in a memory – but it is my least favorite ep thus far because of the lack of horror, and writing that underserves Abby. The attack by Avery’s trackers in the opening minutes is an enjoyable action sequence....

In the first season, Clementine is a little girl cared for by a man named Lee Everett....

A fan of The Division drafts out a map which shows the best Dark Zone path to take when one wants to farm contaminated loot drops while leveling up quickly. The Division has rocketed off to a great start, though many fans are still getting acclimated to the harsh PVP territories within the game that are called Dark Zones. In The Division, these zones not only present challenging computer-controlled enemies to the players, but also allow PVP combat so agents can contest loot drops, allowing them to escape with valuable high-end weaponry....

Buried in Deadline’s November 2020 announcement that The Expanse has been renewed for a sixth (yay!) and final (oh) season, was another very important news item: Cas Anvar, who has played Martian pilot Alex Kamal in the first five seasons of the show, will not be returning for the final season. This announcement comes after an official investigation by a third party on behalf of Alcon Studios due to the many allegations of abuse and harassment made against Anvar by both coworkers and fans, some of whom were under the age of 18....

After a long wait, The Last of Us Part 2 is getting a performance patch on PlayStation 5. The free update is now available and gives you the option to run Naughty Dog’s latest masterpiece at 60fps. Patch 1.08 is said to complement the other enhancements already present when running The Last of Us Part 2 on PS5 – such as increased resolution and faster load times. You’ll also have the option to lock your frame rate at the current 30fps using a new “Framerate Target” selection in the Display menu....

Making its way onto the Epic Games Store for free last week, Star Wars Battlefront 2 already ranks among some of the biggest free titles the marketplace has ever given away. Welcoming in a number of Star Wars fans subscribed to the storefront, it seems the decision to make EA’s tie-in multiplayer shooter a free title has been a big hit with frequenters of Epic’s PC hub. Announced via the EA Star Wars page, Battlefront 2 has officially brought aboard a whopping 19 million players during its promotion with The Epic Games Store....

After an incredibly rocky start, EA is getting slightly better at churning out Star Wars games. We’re still far from satisfied with their handling of the franchise, but at least Fallen Order was a decent Dark Souls-esque romp and Battlefront II is in much better shape than it was previously (plus it’ll be free soon, so that’s a nice bonus.) The big question now is what’s next for EA and their future plans for adventures set in a galaxy far, far away....

Rocksteady Studios finally announced its highly anticipated followup to the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham trilogy to be Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Not only will this title be set in the universe established in the Batman: Arkham games, but will feature an entirely new cast of playable characters with the morally-grey Suicide Squad. Complete with a roster of four classic DC villains as playable characters (Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark) and a campaign that supports co-op play throughout, the game seems to have made quite an impression despite debuting with only a cinematic trailer....

Summer Games Done Quick, the annual video game speedrunning charity event, has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s show. However, while the on-site show is canceled, it’s being replaced by an entirely online alternative. A group of hosts will broadcast SGDQ from a home studio, with speedrunners performing from home. The new SGDQ Online event is dedicated to maintaining the same schedule and ideals of the IRL event. It’ll run from August 16 through August 23, just like the original SGDQ (after it was postponed)....
