Many have called 2021 a slow year for video games, and we certainly understand why. Game development is hard enough without having to deal with the challenges of working during the COVID-19 pandemic, systemic issues within the industry, hardware shortages, and a variety of other factors that have led to some of the delays and disappointments we’ve seen this year. Yet, at the end of this “slow” year, we were still left staring at a list of about 50 games that are more than worthy of being considered the very best of both 2021 and many other recent years....

Kael’Thas Sunstrider is among the most well-known villains in all of World of Warcraft, although he certainly didn’t start out that way. As many villains often do, Kael’Thas had good intentions but turned to evil to accomplish them. For Kael’Thas, his pride and his addiction to Fel magic quickly turned him from the revered last member of the Sunstrider lineage to a hated traitor to the Blood Elf people. In World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Classic Kael’Thas is a boss within both Tempest Keep and Magister’s Terrace....

There are few fantasy franchises with quite the same reputation as The Elder Scrolls, the long-running franchise from Bethesda that started back in the early ’90s. Jokes are often made about the fifth entry in the franchise, Skyrim, being ported to every console under the sun, but there’s a strong case for an Elder Scrolls collection for the Xbox Series X. Bethesda game collections have leaked since the Microsoft acquisition took place, but the Elder Scrolls was surprisingly absent....

Somewhere out there, there’s a “Butthole Cut” of the movie Cats. We think that might mean there’s a similar version of Sonic The Hedgehog. This will take a bit of explanation before we start talking about Sonic’s butthole, so please, bear with me for just a few moments. Last month, screenwriter Jack Waz made a startling claim about the movie Cats. According to Waz, the film’s initial visual effects weren’t just so bad that they required the movie to be re-released later with updated cat graphics– the cats also had buttholes....

At least now we know why Paramount Pictures decided to sell this third entry in the Cloverfield horror/sci-fi series to Netflix after bumping its release date three times in the past year: it kind of sucks. The Cloverfield Paradox, which began life in 2012 as God Particle before being folded into producer J.J. Abrams’ loosely connected ongoing franchise, is barely worth the hype generated by its surprise premiere on Netflix right after the Super Bowl on Sunday night....

With the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, various organizations and pop culture figures have used the game for promotional purposes, proving how popular the game is. The most recent example of this came when an NFL team used the game to announce their schedule for the upcoming NFL season. In a video posted to the Detroit Lions’ Twitter page, the NFL team took creative screenshots to display the dates on which the Lions will face teams like the Minnesota Vikings, Washington Redskins, and Green Bay Packers....

While most gamers know by now how different Tom Clancy’s The Division is from a game like Destiny, there are still many ways in which the two titles are similar. Both use a similar color scheme for loot, both have an average-based end game leveling system, and both have weekly and daily missions. Obviously, daily missions are not unique to Destiny, but they were likely many gamers first encounter with them....

It’s only one of the most anticipated titles of the 21st century so far. Elder Scrolls 6 will take place in the province of Hammerfell, Bethesda announced as a small teaser in a Twitter comment on the last day of 2020, and the gaming world finally exhaled. It’s going to be tough for Bethesda to follow the success of Skyrim while maintaining the online portion of the franchise, Elder Scrolls Online....

This The Flash episode contains spoilers. The Flash Season 3 Episode 17 I hate musicals. I never watched Glee. I only thought “Once More With Feeling” was OK. I like Crazy Ex-Girlfriend in theory but haven’t watched since midway through the first season. I fell asleep trying to watch La La Land and the odds of me giving it another chance are directly proportional to whether or not my parents want to watch it when I’m visiting them....

This The Flash review contains spoilers. The Flash Season 4 Episode 18 The past few weeks on The Flash have been pretty entertaining but not exactly seismic when it comes to story progression. Last week, we got a fluffy but fun Cisco episode along with a look at the burgeoning friendship between Ralph Dibny and Barry Allen. While Cisco’s promotion to full-fledged Breacher isn’t explored at all this week, the bond between Flash and Elongated Man takes center stage....

New updates are coming to The Last of Us 2, and fans will have many new features unlocked for them in the game. With the special Grounded update, players will have many new customization features available in the game. While there are interesting graphical changes that players can try, there are also many gameplay modifiers that players can utilize to make the game easier for themselves or add another layer of difficulty for an extra challenge....

Game soundtracks are generally made available for sale in digital, downloadable formats as well as on CD, so fans can re-experience the music that made the most action-packed and dramatic sequences in games even more intense. In rare cases, game OSTs are also released in another format, like Grand Theft Auto V’s vinyl record boxset, though this is fairly rare. Whether or not the average gamer has a record player capable of playing back the records, some are happy to see these records produced, if only for the large, detailed box art....

Lev is a character that was present in The Last of Us Part 2 during the second half of the game, and he had some of the best development that players have seen in the franchise to date among other characters such as Ellie and Owen. Lev has had to endure many hardships by being born into the Seraphites cult, and he has been persistent in the face of opposition and abuse....

A few years ago, Shigeru Miyamoto managed to troll the internet by “revealing” that Link’s full name is “Link Link.” It may have just been a cute nod to the fact that Mario’s name is apparently Mario Mario (a joke established by the infamous 1993 Super Mario movie), but considering that there is so much about Link and the Zelda universe that remains mysterious, fans tend to be invested in anything that Miyamoto says about the franchise....

This Star Wars: The Mandalorian article contains spoilers. The Mandalorian Chapter 13, “The Jedi,” gives us answers to many of the biggest questions surrounding Baby Yoda, the former Jedi youngling whose actual name is Grogu, while also introducing new mysteries about the ancient order. In fact, the episode has just set the stage for what will likely be an explosive conclusion to the second season, as Mando and Grogu set off to find what could be the birthplace of the Jedi....

April’s been a strange month for video games. While we’ve seen a big release here and there, overall it’s relatively quiet. This is good news for gamers, who are possibly still knee deep in their back log, but not for publishers. Vita sales have begun to slow, which can be attributed to the lack of new titles. The Wii and 3DS are also suffering from a software drought, though the former did see a big game launch at the beginning of the month....

BioShock 4 is in development from a new studio under the 2K banner called Cloud Chamber. This news was confirmed in December 2019, with the title expected to be in development for several years. There are very few officially confirmed details about the new game, outside of it being made by a new studio without the series creator, Ken Levine. There is enough information after being circulated, however, that infers several key characteristics about the game, and what changes that fans of the franchise could expect....

It was in 2014 when Australian filmmaker Jennifer Kent stunned the world with her debut feature, The Babadook. The horror tale, about a widowed mother and her young son who are haunted by a presence that may or may not be solely in their minds, was both a genuinely frightening genre exercise as well as a searing study of grief, motherhood and loneliness. It became one of the first movies to lead the current wave of what some critics call “elevated” horror, films like It Follows, The Witch and Hereditary that combine visceral terror with sophisticated emotional/psychological underpinnings....

This STAR WARS: THE MANDALORIAN review contains spoilers. The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 2 The Mandalorian might as well have heard the criticism that the Child was scarce in the season premiere, because he’s back in a big way in a fun episode filled with monsters. Peli gives Din a lead on another covert of Mandalorians, but there’s a catch. He needs to ferry “Frog Lady” (that’s her official name at the moment) and her unfertilized eggs to her home planet....

Much has already been written about the Sequel Trilogy’s merits and how it concludes the stories of beloved characters who date back to 1977. Meanwhile, the years since the trilogy wrapped with 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker have been fertile ground for Disney to seed a more cohesive saga around those films. After all, when The Force Awakens launched a new era for Star Wars in theaters in 2015, it was with a rebooted timeline, meaning that fans didn’t know very much about what had happened to Luke, Leia, and Han in the 30 years between Return of the Jedi and the new film....
