Mihoyo’s exhibition at the Firefly Animation Game Carnival in China was a real head-turner, as the area was set up to look like something straight out of Genshin Impact’s Teyvat over the festival weekend beginning December 31 through January 2. If you’re unfamiliar, Firefly Animation Game Carnival is one of South China’s biggest gaming exhibitions. Started back in 2011, thousands of fans flock to Guangzhou, China every year to attend. Mihoyo was in attendance this year, bringing with it one of the biggest games in the world....

As much as I don’t care for the Resident Evil movies, it’s going to be weird that Milla Jovovich won’t be starring in the upcoming film reboot of the franchise. In an interview with IGN, director Johannes Roberts confirmed that Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City will be a fresh start and have no connection with Paul W.S. Anderson’s series. “Obviously, there is the Resident Evil [film] franchise and this movie doesn’t have anything to do with that,” said Roberts....

A shareholder call with EA CFO Blake Jorgensen reveals that Visceral’s Star Wars title is still multiple years away from being finished its development. During the meeting, Jorgensen discussed how EA was reducing the amount of “less profitable or non-profitable titles” within the company’s portfolio. Hot on the heels of the massive sales success of Star Wars Battlefront, however, it was obvious that such a decision was unlikely to affect any of the publisher’s up-and-coming Star Wars titles, and Jorgensen confirmed as much later in the call:...

The February Update for DICE’s and Electronic Arts’ sci-fi shooter, Star Wars Battlefront, is out now and it adds a brand new map and mission to the game. Nearly a month after bringing about plenty of changes and additions in Star Wars Battlefront with the game’s free January Update, developers are now delivering more of the promised goodies for 2016. The title’s February Update goes live today, and includes a new map called “Twilight” and a fresh mission dubbed “Survival in the Ice Caves....

DICE and Electronic Arts announce the inclusion of Greedo and Nien Nunb, along with additional content for Star Wars Battlefront’s Outer Rim expansion pack. Hot on the heels of Star Wars Battlefront’s free February update, developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts have released some specifics for its first bout of paid DLC called Outer Rim. Although developers didn’t provide an exact release date beyond its availability sometime this month, the companies did confirm the existence of Greedo and Nien Nunb as two new playable heroes, a never-before-included mode, a couple of different maps, as well as fresh weapons and Star Cards....

While in the midst of promoting the next and final DLC pack (End Game) for Battlefield 3, publisher Electronic Arts is also quietly benching the Medal of Honor franchise after rebooting it in 2010 and releasing a sequel (Medal of Honor: Warfighter) in October. The Frostbite 2-powered sequel developed entirely by Danger Close Games didn’t sell well and critics panned it. Needless to say, we saw this coming before the game even came out and sadly, are not surprised the lowered sales estimates held true....

Naughty Dog’s latest highly acclaimed title, The Last of Us: Part 2, has sold over 4 million copies worldwide. This sales data comes only from two days after the game’s initial release. The game has become the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive, taking over Spider-Man’s reign of that coveted title, which was at 3.3 million copies sold after its first week. The Last of Us: Part II also slightly beat Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End’s record as the fastest-selling game in the UK by 1%....

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds was an interesting game and the first title released specifically for the Nintendo 3DS. This game was fairly well-received by gamers and critics, getting a 91% on IGN and a 94% on Metacritic. Many players found it charming, fun, and different. EA announces that new cosmetic outfits are coming to Star Wars: Squadrons for players to unlock for their collection. Available through January 10, the two skins are unlockable as a thank you for the Star Wars: Squadrons gaming community.
