The beta for Star Wars: Battlefront 2 has come to a close and developer DICE wants players to know that their concerns and suggestions have been duly noted. In a blog post on the EA website, the developer laid out what it has learned from the beta and the people playing it, as well as what that means for the game when it launches. The developer of Stardew Valley releases a progress update on the next version of the game, along with the future of co-op multiplayer and eventual console ports. Ever since its release on Steam, Stardew Valley has accumulated a growing mass of fans who quickly became heavily engrossed in the Harvest Moon-inspired title. The Communist Party of China’s Central Publicity Department announced that, come September, all Chinese gamers will be required to log in using their real names to play video games. In 2019, the State Administration of Press and Publications introduced limitations on video games for Chinese citizens under the age of 18, restricting children to a maximum of 90 minutes of daily gaming time on weekdays and three hours on holidays - with strict bounds of playtime between 8am and 10pm....

A survey linked on the System Shock 3 website suggests that studio Otherside Entertainment is considering developing the game for use with a VR headset. Fans of the System Shock franchise seemed likely to never see another game in the acclaimed cyberpunk series. Although System Shock 2 proved to be a hugely influential cult hit, the title never received commercial success, with the series apparently destined to remain as a duo....

Google Stadia launched in November 2020, requiring a subscription to its Stadia Pro service. While it’s difficult to discern the Stadia service’s popularity or success, it’s reasonable to state that it hasn’t been as explosively adopted as Google may have wanted. As excitement for the early months of Stadia winds down, some are seeing it as an opportunity for reflection and some criticism. The latest weekly poll of most-anticipated upcoming games from Japanese magazine Famitsu is in, and the winner may be surprising to some. The number one spot goes to Bandai Namco’s in-development JRPG Tales of Arise, accruing 657 overall votes between October 22 and October 28. Tales of Arise will be the first release in the franchise since 2016, so it’s easy to see why Famitsu readers may be excited about it....

2021 will go down as the year that a giant woman became the biggest star of the gaming industry. While it’s hard to say if Capcom intended that to happen, everyone has fallen in love with Lady Dimitrescu - aka Tall Vampire Lady - ever since she showed up at the end of the Resident Evil Village demo and slashed our faces off. As a result of the internet’s undying affection for this 10-foot tall vampire mistress, she’s essentially become the mascot for Resident Evil Village....

According to state-owned media in Russia, 15 year old Pavel Mateev from the Tomsk region committed suicide after losing in an online video game by decapitating himself with a chainsaw on the morning of September 4. His mother reportedly bought him an online computer game, which hasn’t been specified at the time of this writing, and sources claim he was “addicted” to it, playing an unspecified number of hours at a time....

For some fans, it’s almost disheartening that while The Wolf Among Us 2 was officially announced nearly a year ago, barely any sort of news or update regarding the game’s release or development has been released to the general public. Although, now it seems that Telltale Games have released a small, albeit esoteric response to one fan’s questioning of The Wolf Among Us 2’s development. The original Wolf Among Us released back in October of 2013 and has received cult classic status within the gaming community....

Earlier this May, Terraria released its final update ever, with version 1.4 or “Journey’s End” wrapping up the slate of content the developers planned to bring to the game. Today, the team released a final patch for that update, with version 1.4.1 adding some of the finishing touches that weren’t quite ready for the official release of Journey’s End. The patch itself brings a host of new additions alongside some much-needed quality of life improvements, with new vanity items, achievements, and an NPC being added to Terraria’s world....
