The Lazarus Effect is the latest horror offering from Blumhouse Productions, the independent company that has specialized in the genre for years with movies like the Paranormal Activity series, Insidious, Sinister, Oculus, Ouija and many more. Like the company’s dystopian hit The Purge, The Lazarus Effect mixes a little sci-fi into the supernatural proceedings, telling a Frankenstein/Flatliners-type tale of a team of researchers who stumble upon a way to bring the dead back to life....

The Pokemon series has taken inspiration from all around the globe. While the Kanto region of Gen 1 was based on the actual Kanto prefecture in Japan, the inspiration has been more loose in subsequent games. Other parts of Japan have been utilised - Johto is Kansai - but we’ve also seen New York City, Paris, Britain, and Hawaii provide jumping-off points for Pokemon games. The series has never yet taken inspiration from a continent as a whole though, and as Gen 9 approaches, it’s time Pokemon tried to dream a little bigger....

The Ukrainian studio GSC Game World is currently working on Stalker 2, the long-anticipated sequel to the atmospheric first-person shooter, originally released on PC in 2006. The developers said Stalker 2 would be a huge step forward for the brand, and the game is designed in a way only possible with the power of the new platforms. Speaking to Gamingbolt, the studio’s PR manager Zakhar Bocharov revealed why the upcoming Stalker 2 is releasing only on PC and Xbox Series X/S....

During its tenure on the crowdfunding scene, Star Citizen has quickly become one of the most ambitious and highly-anticipated games coming to PC, promising an extensive and immersive sci-fi world to explore. Unfortunately, the game has been in production for years and there’s no inclination it will be completed anytime soon, with Cloud Imperium Games CEO Chris Robert recently having to reassure fans that the title isn’t a “pipe dream.”...

Since it first started crowdfunding more than four years ago, Star Citizen has been considered one of the most ambitious games ever. The open-galaxy game looks to mold together numerous genres into a brand new, exploratory game genre that looks to reinvent simulation gaming. In a press release, studio head Chris Roberts offered some thoughts on why the team decided to make the change. Roberts said: While this is likely good news for the future of Star Citizen, it’ll undoubtedly ruffle a few feathers among backers of the title....

If you would have told me two, five…even ten years ago that we were getting a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake that would update the beloved 2003 RPG with modern graphics, modern audio, and a few mechanical improvements, I would have been thrilled. In fact, I probably would have been upset if you told me that remake would go so far as to significantly change any aspect of the original game’s combat, story, or any of the other elements that have led many to call it one of the best RPGs of the last 20 years and arguably the best Star Wars game ever made....

Taika Waititi’s self-assured, clear-eyed direction benefits from what came before, certainly: he’s wrapping up the story of Mando and Baby Yoda’s pursuit by the formidable Moff Gideon. Waititi brings his hallmark humor as well as an excellent sense of space. Even the bar and the Mandalorian enclave we’ve seen before gain new dimensions and depth....

After a leaked trailer for Star Wars Battlefront 2 ignited the fans, EA is quickly gearing up for an official reveal this coming weekend. While the company didn’t go as far as confirming the short teaser trailer as official or revealing any sort of information, the official website for the game has finally gone live. Unfortunately, there’s nothing really to see on the site yet, just a message confirming the first trailer will be shown this weekend at 11:30am PST on April 15 during the Star Wars Battlefront 2 panel at Star Wars Celebration event in Orlando....

Earlier today, Microsoft announced a Collector’s Edition for State of Decay 2 that will retail for $69.99. The State of Decay 2 Collector’s Edition will come with a number of goodies for hardcore fans of the series, but anyone planning to pick it up should note that it doesn’t come with the game itself. Collector’s Editions that don’t include the game are becoming more common nowadays, and unfortunately it means anyone interested in what State of Decay 2’s CE has to offer will still need to purchase the game separately....

It seems that Mario Kart 8 is highly popular amongst athletes; recently, an MLB team played the game during a three-hour delay. Now, it seems Stephen Curry – the point guard of the Golden State Warriors – represented the NBA in a Twitch stream of the game, and well, he clearly shoots better than he races. He joined fellow athlete Hunter Pence of the San Francisco Giants during his Coral Sword stream and competed against Pence, his wife Lexi Pence, and Sanford Bledsoe in Mario Kart 8....

Twitch streamer Castoreh claims Reflect Studios, an indie horror game developer founded in 2001 by Adam Flatau, engaged in “petty harassment" back in May. The streamer, who currently has over 4,000 followers on Twitch, says that Flatau is personally responsible for the abuse. Based in Buffalo, New York, Reflect is known for horror games such as Rides with Strangers, Welcome to the Game, Welcome to the Game 2, and Scrutinized. The studio has not publicly responded to the allegations made by Castoreh, who had messaged the developer privately in the past....

With the advent of livestreaming and the growing popularity of services like Twitch, streamers have quickly begun to push the envelope in an effort to get views and clicks. However, one streamer found that his efforts to get attention led to a real-life incident – one that he would likely take back. While trying to capture footage of a security guard, the streamer is hit by the ricochet of a bullet firing into the ground....
