Stranger Things was one of the most surprising hits of 2016, a strange Netflix exclusive series that seemed tailor made to become a cult classic but instead found a much broader audience. The combination of nerd culture reverence and brooding science fiction in Stranger Things certainly endeared it to fans of video games, too, and many have wondered when a serious run at a Stranger Things title might be taken by an enterprising developer....

It seems that copies of Super Mario 3D All-Stars are going to be hard to find in the UK, as a retailer has canceled its orders due to a “woefully short” supply. Super Mario 3D All-Stars is an upcoming collection of classic Mario games for the Nintendo Switch, which will include upgraded versions of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. For some insane reason, this game will only receive an extremely limited physical run and it will only be available to order on the eShop until March....

After much anticipation, Nintendo has finally revealed that the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter is…Steve…from Minecraft. cough Well, it feels fair to say that we didn’t hear many fans begging for Steve (from Minecraft) to be added to the game. Leading up to the reveal, some of the top requests we heard were Crash Bandicoot, Geno from Super Mario RPG, and Sora from Kingdom Hearts. Steve (whose domain largely includes, but is no longer limited to, the realm of Minecraft) wasn’t exactly a chart-topper....

Instead of being emotional, revelatory, or action-packed, the mid-season finale feels like a filler episode. While it technically manages to check all the boxes – Kara is rescued, Nyxly is coming back to National City to cause trouble, Zor-El is coming back for presumably positive shenanigans – much of the episode is a played out drag....

The CEO of Grand Theft Auto V publisher Take-Two reveals that the company has licensed the movie rights to two of its video game franchises. There have been more bad movies based on video games than good ones, but as long as both forms of entertainment remain popular, it seems likely that they’ll continue to cross paths. Now, it’s been revealed that movie adaptations of multiple Take-Two properties could be inbound....

Much like they did with this week’s surprise release for Tales from the Borderlands, Telltale Games has decided to give fans another holiday surprise. This time, however, the news concerns one of Telltale’s most intriguing and potentially exciting tie-ins, Game of Thrones. While Telltale has been very secretive when it comes to their Games of Thrones adaptation so far, that will change in a few short days. That’s not because Telltale plans to reveal any more about the game - although that is still likely to happen - but because the first episode will hit digital platforms starting on December 2nd...

Set in the United States’ post-apocalyptic modern world, The Walking Dead gives players an immersive experience and lets them tailor the endgame as they choose. Over the course of all the four seasons, players will meet at least three playable protagonists: Clementine Crawford, a clever young girl who was rescued by Lee Everett before his passing, and Javier Garcia, someone who aspired to be a baseball player before the world ends....

Sony’s PlayStation 2 is still the highest-selling console of all time. One of the many reasons for its outstanding sales was its iconic line-up of games, and memorable titles included GTA: San Andreas, God of War, and Shadow of the Colossus. However, the PS2 was substandard from its Xbox and PC counterparts in one department: role-playing games. Classic games like The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Fable, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic didn’t feature on Sony’s console....

Activision has been one of the biggest video game publishers that the industry has ever seen. Just last night, indie developer Edmund McMillen provided an update on Twitter about the various projects he’s currently involved in. The two biggest, The Binding of Isaac: Repentance and Mewgenics, were given some concrete details that are both good and bad. In the good pile, Mewgenics is now in active development. In the bad pile, Repentance has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. That shouldn’t come as a surprise, but it does still sting....

Tabletop roleplaying game content creation studio Kibblestasty Homebrew recently launched its Kickstarter adventure to fund Kibbles’ Compendium of Craft and Creation, a sourcebook of “Classes, Crafting, Psionics, & More” designed for use with the fifth edition of the world’s most popular tabletop roleplaying game. The project reached its $10,000 goal in just about three hours, and still has 27 days remaining as of this writing.
