Tencent’s spending spree continues. Last week it was reported that Tencent was purchasing the parent company of Warframe, and that has now been confirmed as the Chinese media conglomerate has acquired Hong Kong-based game studio Leyou. Tencent’s imprint in the world of gaming is hard to deny, as it controls 11.5 percent of PUBG, 40 percent of Epic Games, and 100 percent of Riot Games. Now, Tencent owns Leyou, including its subsidiaries Digital Extremes, Splash Damage, Athlon Games, Kingmaker, and Radiance Games....

The Batman trailer is finally here, accompanied by Nirvana’s “Something in the Way.” The two-and-a-half minutes of footage presents a nightmarish new take on Gotham City and the Dark Knight, an impressive feat considering only 25% of the movie has been shot so far, according to what director Matt Reeves said during the DC FanDome digital event. Reeves’ Batman reboot explores the early days of the Caped Crusader’s career, about two years into it, and focuses on a younger Bruce Wayne who is haunted by his past as well as a new villain who’s leaving victims all of the city for him to find....

Without a doubt, Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal are the best games in Game Freak’s illustrious Pokemon series. As well as introducing a range of unique features like a functional day/night cycle and the beloved Bug Catching contest, Gen 2 tasked you with revisiting Kanto after defeating the Elite Four in Johto. To this day, no other Pokemon game has allowed you to explore two separate regions as part of the same story - Satoru Iwata truly was a genius....

2020 was a pretty good year for games. From Animal Crossing to Hades, to The Last of Us Part 2 and beyond, we’ve seen a whole lot of excellent titles launch over the last 12 months. Fortunately, 2021 looks as if it’s already intending to capitalize on the momentum of 2020, and has loads of its own games lined up to launch over the course of the next year. While we can’t necessarily say if these games are actually going to be good just yet, we can certainly take a look at the most highly-anticipated titles of the lot....

Peter Morgan’s Netflix drama concertinas history and jumps between time periods to follow emotional and symbolic through-lines rather than sticking to the recorded facts and timelines. “Inspired by real events, this fictional dramatization…” goes the proviso at the top of Season Five. School pupils shouldn’t rely on it to do their history homework, is the general consensus....

Ray Liotta mixed affable identifiability with mobster menace for his role as Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas. It is one of the reasons the film became the gangster classic it is today. The director got what he wanted from an actor who knew how to give. It was the only time they worked together. But they almost pulled off at least one other job, and it may even have nabbed an extra Oscar....

The Division 2 is one of the most acclaimed RPGs of 2019 and a popular shooter in a crowded market. Not only did it boast numerous gameplay improvements for both single-player and multiplayer modes, but it created a thrillingly chaotic version of Washington, D.C. with a myriad of activities utilizing that gameplay. Among the more prolific pastimes that players can partake in is conquering control points. These enemy camps are scattered throughout the map, just waiting for eager gamers to conquer them....

Endgame content was an area where The Division 1 struggled at launch, though thanks to post-launch updates and DLC, things slowly improved over time. Using that experience, it looks as though Massive Entertainment really wants to focus on getting that aspect right on day one for The Division 2. With only a few weeks left until launch, Ubisoft and Massive have begun to really highlight the many activities, missions, and other things available to the endgame....
