A new Evil Within is coming later this year, but fans might be surprised to learn that the series’ famous director, Shinji Mikami, is not helming the sequel. Instead the prolific Resident Evil director will only be serving as a producer on the project, which looks to build on the original game’s blend of survival and psychological horror. Why exactly Mikami is not working on The Evil Within 2 is unclear, but speculation is sure to run rampant in the coming weeks and months....

Trying to make a movie set at the height of World War II where your lead character is a Nazi might appear to be a challenge, especially if you want to create any sort of sympathy for him. That’s one of the biggest hurdles facing The Exception, a WWII drama from accomplished theater director David Leveaux that’s based on Alan Jadd’s 2003 historical fiction novel The Kaiser’s Last Kiss. There’s also little question that the movie is frequently saved by offering another joyously entertaining performance by Christopher Plummer....

In The Falconeer, you fly around on the back of a giant bird while shooting lightning blasts at your enemies. The controls are intuitive, and flying feels absolutely wonderful. The visuals are stark and simple, but no less breathtaking. The music is equally mesmerizing and perfect for conveying a sense of awe and wonder at everything the player sees. It’s just too bad there’s really no story to be found in The Falconeer....

The much-anticipated live-action series adaptation of the critically acclaimed game, The Last of Us now has a director for its pilot episode. The Last of Us TV series was announced this past March to be in production at HBO, with one of the game’s original creative directors, Neil Druckmann (the other being Bruce Straley, who left developer Naughty Dog after a long sabbatical a few years ago). Druckmann is also developing the show with the creator of last year’s critically acclaimed HBO miniseries Chernobyl, Craig Mazin....

Much of the ire of fans who didn’t particularly enjoy The Last of Us Part II’s storyline falls on the character of Abby. Having been introduced as the unannounced second playable character in the game, Abby ended up taking Joel’s life and causing irreparable damage to Ellie. It’s understandable why she’s getting all this hate, and that is justified too. However, a lot of points in Abby’s favor have also been overlooked....

The Legend of Zelda series has produced some of the best video games of all time. The face of this series is Link, who is a teenager that tends to start out from humble beginnings, before being sent on a journey to try and rescue Princess Zelda from whoever has captured her this week. There are various different incarnations of Link, as only a few of The Legend of Zelda titles are direct sequels....

In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, weapons would break if you used them for too long. Some people liked it and some people didn’t. That’s all there is to it. Unfortunately, because no one can let anything go on the internet, that isn’t all there is to it. Each side will viciously argue their case, despite having absolutely zero chance of convincing the other. As for people lost in the middle, they don’t particularly care, so the arguments being made are futile....

Despite the global pandemic, some films have managed to push through production and finish filming regardless. One of the more recent films to finally wrap up shooting was Matrix 4, a long awaited continuation of the classic Matrix franchise. Of course, you can’t wrap up shooting without a wrap party, so Matrix 4 had one of those as well, attended by much of the cast and crew, including Keanu Reeves. Unfortunately for them, that very gathering is now under investigation in Germany out of concern they have violated lockdown restrictions....

A physical release for The Mummy Demastered is in the works, according to a Twitter announcement made by WayForward Technologies and Limited Run Games yesterday. The Mummy Demastered has been available virtually for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch since 2017, and is based on the movie The Mummy released in the same year starring Tom Cruise and Russel Crowe. The game was received well, with some commending it for being so much better than the movie itself....

Stardew Valley fans got a surprise the other day in the form of a board game announcement from Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone. Not only that, but the game is finished and available for purchase, having been worked on for the past two years by ConcernedApe and board game designer Cole Medeiros. Just like its digital counterpart, Stardew Valley: The Board Game was developed and published by ConcernedApe, with a little help from Delano Games to print it and Quartermaster Games to distribute it....

This Star Trek: Discovery review contains spoilers. Star Trek: Discovery Episode 13 You would be forgiven for thinking that tonight’s episode of Star Trek: Discovery was the season finale. It had all the marking of a season-ender: high stakes, much-anticipated showdowns, the tying up of many loose ends, and tons of action. But “What’s Past is Prologue” is not the end of Discovery‘s first, big, season-long story. It is but the (seeming) wrapping up of this Mirror Universe detour, with the fate of our Federation still up in the air following the Discovery’s return to the Prime universe....

The writing has been on the wall for publisher Starbreeze Studios for some time now. With the poor reception surrounding its PC release of Overkill’s The Walking Dead and significant financial losses reported last quarter, the company is expected to fold within the next 12 months. In what appears to be a last ditch effort to minimize losses, the company is now looking to sell off assets in order to remain afloat for a while longer....

It seems there’s always at least one streamer in hot water at any given time, and at the moment that honor falls to Gaules. His recent claims about Leaf, a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competitor, potentially cheating have resulted in the 16 year old American esports player being the target of harassment and even receiving threats. Gaules is a Brazilian streamer who primarily covers Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. While covering the recent Counter Strike Summit event, Gaules claimed that certain clips of Leaf’s gameplay indicated that he was likely cheating....

It seems like gamers are constantly breaking new records and completing insane new challenges. Stories are always breaking about world-first raid times, ridiculous challenge modes, and now, almost perfect speedrun scores thanks to YouTuber Kosmicd12. Last night, Kosmic achieved a mind-numbingly impressive speed of 4 minutes 55 seconds and 913 milliseconds in Super Mario Bros, a time that many people considered to be impossible without the assistance of computer programs. This makes Kosmic the first human to ever set such an insane score without computer assistance....

The CW’s veteran wayward son of a show, Supernatural, will soon carry on towards whatever peace there’ll be when it is gone. It’s a notion that feels a lot more real with the release of trailers for the final seven episodes of Season 15, which happen to be the final episodes of the series…period. While a pandemic-pushed delay may have resulted in a stay of sorts for Supernatural fans who aren’t ready to let go of the series, Sam and Dean Winchester are solidly scheduled to face the music (in a more serious scenario than Bill & Ted,) starting Thursday, October 8 when their beloved Impala crosses into the show’s proverbial last stretch on The CW road....

In 2004, Kripke was fresh off the cancellation of his short-lived Tarzan series when Warner Bros. executive Susan Rovner asked him for a pitch for a new show. “I came up with an idea about a reporter who traveled around in a van writing about urban legends. It was basically a terrible rip-off of [Kolchak: The] Night Stalker,” Kripke told TV Guide Magazine. Rovner wasn’t into it and asked if Kripke had anything else....

The early access game produced by Donkey Crew, Last Oasis, has made an update that adds an exciting new biome. After a rocky start when launch issues forced Last Oasis servers down temporarily until it could be sure the game is stable, the studio is coming back strong with an interesting update to its world. The setting for Last Oasis paints the picture of a sun-baked apocalypse that is arguably harsher than Fallout’s radioactivity....

Following last night’s Nintendo Direct, the Nintendo eShop is now hosting a Digital Deals sale in Europe with discounts of up to 75% on hundreds of games, including fan favorites like Mario & Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Overcooked 2 and I Am Dead. The sale, which kicked off on Thursday, February 18 at 2 pm GMT / 3 pm CET, will run until February 28. With more than 66 pages of savings, gamers will need time to sift through all the savings, but judging from the selection of discounts below, it will be well worth it....

Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead is the next downloadable title, in a collection of recently released downloadable games, to have crossed the one million copies sold mark. Earlier this year both Trials Evolution and Minecraft for XBLA hit the honorable benchmark, and now The Walking Dead can add its name to the list. While the game might not have made it to the million mark as fast as Trials or Minecraft — The Walking Dead released about three weeks ago — it’s still a pretty important distinction for an experience that is more interactive novel than video game....
