Few shows’ schedules were hit harder by the coronavirus pandemic than HBO’s Emmy-award winning drama Succession. As recounted in a sprawling (and superb) New Yorker piece, season 3 of the beloved satire about the wealthy Roy family was set to begin filming in April of 2020 before the pandemic upended the those plans. According to the series creator and showrunner Jesse Armstrong, HBO executives encouraged him to wait things out until they could have as normal a filming experience as possible “rather than have Logan do a series of Webinars we can put out on HBO Max....

Hotel Barcelona is about as strange an idea as you’d expect from the creators of No More Heroes and Deadly Premonition, and talking about can be just as strange. It was first announced back in 2019 during the IGN Japan stream, but it wasn’t with a trailer or proclamations. It was more like Suda51 and Swery65 spitballing ideas that seemed to coalesce into a general consensus that they definitely needed to collaborate on a horror game, and that horror game would be called Hotel Barcelona....

It’s a joyous occasion when an indie game reaches its Kickstarter goal and goes on to be a success with gamers. However, reaching that goal within 3 hours is no small feat, and is the story belonging to Japanese gaming studio Rabbit & Bear Studios. The studio’s kickstarter pledge to develop role-playing campaign Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes (Hyaku Eiyūden) managed to reach its target of $509,713 within the first 3 hours of its Monday launch....

In an amusing (and kind) move, Bossa Studios has made Surgeon Simulator 2 free to all National Health Service workers in the UK. Through October 22, all NHS workers–including surgerons, doctors, and nurses–with a active and valid NHS email can claim the game for free on PC. Released in August of this year, Surgeon Simulator 2 is a wacky, cartoonish simulator where you play (big shock) as a surgeon. With a crazy physics engine and complete disregard for medical accuracy, Surgeon Simulator 2 is just a grand old time....

A survey conducted by Vorhaus Advisors regarding video game virtual goods has some interesting findings for fans of the industry. Vorhaus Advisors surveyed 2,268 consumers, and its report finds that many gamers would purchase more in-game virtual goods if they had real-world value that could lead to income. The study shows that 63 percent of gamers would spend more money on in-game virtual goods if they had real monetary value, and 64 percent said they would play more often....

Football fans are among some of the most passionate people on the face of the planet. While it’s not uncommon for fans of the Beautiful Game to enjoy a game of FIFA or PES from time to time, it appears that some fans don’t want these digital versions distracting leagues from the real thing, so much so that they stopped a league match to protest the rise of eSports. During the match, fans of BSC Young Boys, a football club based out of the Swiss city of Bern, threw tennis balls and controllers with derogatory messages scrawled on them onto the field as Young Boys played against the French club Basel....

People have been getting really creative with their Animal Crossing New Horizon’s terraforming, but modeling the island after an actual character is truly next level. Players have paid tribute to their favorite Animal Crossing characters by actually terraforming their island to look just like them. It’s an incredible feat that most likely took a great deal of time and no small amount of artistic skill.
