The Dark Pictures Anthology series is essentially Supermassive Games’ attempt at making a Twilight Zone or Tales From The Crypt-esque franchise. Only instead of Rod Serling or The Cryptkeeper, a middle-aged librarian with a hipster haircut guides you through a horrible misadventure where it’s up to you to keep everyone alive. There are still some rough edges to The Dark Pictures Anthology’s method of game design, but these bite-sized titles offer something unique when it comes to the horror genre....

Developer Chaystar Unlimited recently announced the Steam store entry of its open-world galactic adventure game Lilith Odyssey. After four years in development, the migration and survival strategy game is prepped counting down to its Early Access launch in May 2021. Once Lilith Odyssey embarks upon its Early Access journey, you’ll be able to experience its complete gameplay, according to the Steam page notes. The Early Access version will include “space navigation, exploration of more than 1000 unique planets/moons/asteroids, survival strategy, technology upgrades, spaceship enhancements, personal economy management, lore and history of various galactic cultures, and an original radio-style sound track....

The Last of Us Part 2 has officially been named as Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2020. This year’s nominees for Best Game were The Last of Us Part 2, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Doom Eternal, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Ghost of Tsushima, and Hades. All six games were phenomenal efforts in the medium that were recognized on the world stage this evening, but The Last of Us Part 2 was the one to come out on top....

There have been numerous leaks for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie that show how the famous video game hero is going to be interpreted in live-action film and how he is going to look next to his human co-stars. The visuals of Sonic the Hedgehog have been compared unfavorably to Detective Pikachu, with the Blue Blur plummeting into the creepy end of the uncanny valley. The model used for Sonic in the upcoming movie looks weird, but the film itself will likely eschew the creepiness that has surrounded the franchise since 2006 when Sonic kissed a human princess....

Netflix made a special announcement today, revealing plans to bring adventure games from Telltale Games to its subscription service. As part of the reporting of the announcement, another major reveal was uncovered. Telltale is also partnering with Netflix to create a new game based on its hugely popular Stranger Things series. It appears that Nightdive Studios, who is currently remaking sci-fi horror classic System Shock, has plans for the No One Lives Forever series. The cult series of first-person shooters based on ’60s spy media is currently unavailable for purchase on digital stores and for modern systems.
