Horror anthology series have worked well on television and in films, but they’re not something that’s really been explored in video games. That is, until Supermassive Games introduced The Dark Pictures, a horror anthology series with each game featuring a new cast and a new story, but retaining the big budget adventure game style that the studio is known for. The second installment in The Dark Pictures Anthology, The Dark Pictures: Little Hope, is in some ways an improvement on its predecessor Man of Medan, though it has its own drawbacks....

A GameStop sales associate confirms that DLC for Tom Clancy’s The Division will be available on Xbox One for a full 30 days before it hits PlayStation 4. With all the hype surrounding Tom Clancy’s The Division, it looks like Microsoft has made a good bet by partnering with Ubisoft to make the game best on Xbox One. We’ve seen The Division receive preferential Xbox treatment already, with The Division beta hitting Xbox One first, and now we’ve learned of another way that the game favors Microsoft’s eighth generation console....

The game’s incredible launch week is continuing in Japan, where it has recently broke the record for first-party PS4 game sales in the country. Japan is a relatively smaller region, but is a prime player in the video game market. In its opening week in Japan, The Last of Us 2 sold 178,696 units....

Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel of course ended with the Power Rangers saving the world… but they weren’t the real heroes. Oh sure they did what Rangers always do but the audience was rooting for other characters. Victor and Monty. The two comedic characters that often got into mischief and were driven by Victor’s eternal desire to get his 50th trophy, a goal long out of his reach. While the biggest mystery in The Medium may be the Niwa Massacre and the identity of the mysterious caller, Thomas, Sadness, the first spirit that Marianne meets in the abandoned hotel, is also something of a mystery for the majority of the game. Being Marianne’s guide through Niwa, as well as dropping several subtle hints as to her nature and identity along the way, Sadness is a gripping character that keeps the story engaging throughout The Medium’s short playtime....

Find the mysterious Watcher who supposedly will be able to help them identify whatever has gone wrong with the timeline and therefore prevent it, preventing Earth’s descent into an authoritarian hellscape where the Federation morphs into an organization that’s down with conquest and genocide....

In “Encounter at Farpoint,” Q (John de Lancie) put all of humanity on trial, partly, by pulling Troi, Data, Tasha, and Picard into a courtroom from the year 2079. What this first episode of The Next Generation did wasn’t subtle. In 1987, TNG was saying that the 24th Century was going to be awesome, but that the 21st Century was going to suck. And now, with Picard Season 2, Star Trek is tackling that legacy by seemingly blending the ‘80s notion of the 21st century with the actual 21st century....

Electronic Arts reveals the next DLC add-on for Star Wars Battlefront, which takes players to the Death Star and includes new maps, new weapons, and may feature space battles. Although most would say that Star Wars Battlefront launched a little light on modes, it’s hard to argue developer DICE hasn’t tried to bolster that with new content. Just this week, for example, the developers unveiled plans for a new DLC add-on in September that will feature the Death Star....

With streaming solutions looking to become the future of entertainment, it’s only a matter of time before video game streaming services take off. While there is a surprisingly storied history of different competitors attempting such a thing (OnLive, Gaikai, etc.), the only ones currently going are Google’s Stadia and Nvidia’s GeForce Now. It seems that the new content in Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is worth a lot more than people realized, as pre-ordering the game on the Target website will set you back $9,999.99. Nintendo recently shadow dropped a Mario 35th anniversary Direct, which included announcements for games like Super Mario 3D All-Stars and a battle royale game based on the original Super Mario Bros. title. One of the announcements made during the show was for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, which is an updated version of one of the best titles for Wii U, and it’s coming to the Switch next year....
