When you start playing Stardew Valley, the game doesn’t exactly tell you who you can or can’t date. So there you are on your first days in the game trying to go for characters like Jodi or Marnie, only to be disappointed moments later when you find out they already have a significant other in their life. However, Stardew Valley is a game that keeps getting updates; maybe in the future, one of those updates will let players explore romantic horizons with characters that, for now, are not-datable....

A good detective never slows down, it seems. As just the latest in a steady stream of new projects like 2020’s well-received Enola Holmes, Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown is teaming up with the Russo Brothers for a sci-fi novel adaptation. Expect plenty of robots and drama, as is tradition with such things. Joe and Anthony Russo, the much lauded directors of (among several others) Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, have set out to adapt Simon Stålenhag’s 2018 graphic novel The Electric State into a feature film for Universal Pictures....

Supermassive Games, the developers behind Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology, is hiring for an “unannounced, secret project”, and if the job listings are to be believed, it will feature “real-time combat”. Supermassive Games has released a few job listings on its website, and one of them is particularly telling as to what its next game could entail. Most of the roles on the site are pretty standard for game development and don’t reveal much about upcoming titles, but there’s one role that’s particularly interesting....

When a show has run as long as Supernatural has, there are bound to elements that don’t add up. The show has been on since 2005, and will be on air guaranteed till at least 2019. Sam and Dean were 22 and 26 respectively when the series began, and now by next year they will be 36 and 40. The show has evolved with them and we never see teen fantasy elements such as those that had been there in the earlier seasons....

The swamps are getting crowded. So far the production of the DC Universe Swamp Thing TV show has focused on characters specific to ol’ Swampy’s world and immediate supporting cast. In this case it’s Daniel Cassidy, the man who becomes DC Comics cult favorite Blue Devil, who will be played by Ian Ziering....

Tale of Tales has been making challenging, artistic indie games for over a decade, but their latest release, Sunset, will likely be their last. This isn’t your typical studio dissolution, where creative differences or high aspirations mean it’s time to take a break. As the end of this year descends, developers and publishers are waving goodbye to 2020 and looking forward to the year ahead. The Tales series producer - who represents Namco Tales Studio - wanted to share Bandai Namco’s hopes for the future, by promising “wonderful news in the new year”. Released in 2016, Titanfall 2 didn’t quite gain the popularity that was expected of it right off the bat. This arguably had nothing to do with the game itself; mostly, it was due to EA shooting itself in the foot with a release schedule that saw multiple EA shooters releasing a week apart, among an already pretty crowded time for gaming. While it wasn’t immediately popular, Titanfall 2 was regarded as many as one of the best shooters of the time by most, and one of the best shooters ever by others....

Big things are happening in Destiny 2 this week, including a questline that sets in motion the removal of 4 major destinations. During the Beyond Light livestream last month, Bungie revealed that 4 planetary destinations will be removed from the game this September. In order for Destiny to continue growing and evolving, Titan, Mars, IO, and Mercury will need to be removed from the game. This week, the puzzle pieces have started moving into place....

Update: Bethesda has decided to extend the giveaway of The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind through the weekend, rather than limit it to 24-hours. While not explicitly due to the login issues with Bethesda.net earlier today, that seems to be the most likely reason. Whatever the cause, giving more players the opportunity to pick up a free copy of Morrowing is likely the right choice in the long run. It’s been a big night for Bethesda. The popular development studio unveiled a ton of new games for a variety of platforms, including the all-new Elder Scrolls: Blades, a free mobile game that will also be making its way to consoles and PC. Bethesda’s Todd Howard gave a lengthy demo of the game on-stage during their press conference. Bethesda is promising a real Elder Scrolls experience despite Blades primarily being a mobile game....

Early on in HBO Max’s long-awaited Friends reunion special “The One Where They Get Back Together,” series co-creator David Crane reveals the producing team’s initial vision for the show. “We were really intrigued with the idea of doing a true ensemble. It’s not like there’s a lead and they have friends. No, it’s just about the friends. We’re following all of their stories equally.” Friends would never have worked if Crane, Marta Kauffman, and Kevin Bright hadn’t gone six for six in the casting of the titular friends....

The Game Awards nominations have finally arrived, which means it’s officially time to start arguing about what the biggest video game award show of the year got right and wrong. Considering the many ways that the Covid-19 pandemic has affected the entire entertainment industry this year (including gaming), we’re a little surprised that this year’s nominees are as competitive as they are. While titles like Halo Infinite missed their 2020 release date and Cyberpunk 2077 will miss the award show’s Nov....

Gears of War is getting a movie adaptation, which is kind of an odd choice. The games aren’t really known for their strong narratives, as they mostly boiled down to stories about big meaty men blowing things up, and then fist-bumping each other. However, the series is very popular, so Hollywood was going to come calling sooner or later. Plus, it should be fun to watch dudes chainsaw through Locust soldiers on the big screen....

Naughty Dog has kept its cards close to its chest in regards to story details for The Last of Us: Part 2, which has prompted fans to speculate on what they can expect from the upcoming game.
