Last year, Ubisoft announced an in-game promotion between The Division and its upcoming sequel where a new challenge would be added to the game each month, and should the player complete the task, they would earn an unlockable reward within The Division 2. These monthly shields typically required players to grind away at the game in order to claim all four tiers of available loot. Players were tasked with all sorts of objectives like reaching the highest optimized gear score in the game, unlocking all exotic loot, reaching various milestones while playing through the expansion content, and much more....

Around 20 minutes of footage has been leaked from closed testing for The Division: Heartland, a week after it was initially announced. It appears Ubisoft has started hosting closed testing for The Division: Heartland, as players have started to upload clips of gameplay across social media. It was previously hosted on Vimeo, but the footage has been taken down from there. One clip shows a game that is very much still The Division, but with some gameplay changes made to the formula to make it resemble battle royale titles....

Ubisoft reveals that Update 1.1 of MMO shooter The Division guarantees players a High-End item drop from named NPCs over level 30, as well as some changes to crafting costs. Since its release in early March, Ubisoft’s highly-anticipated multiplayer RPG/shooter hybrid The Division has proved to be a tremendous success, with the title incredibly close to living up to the hype that surrounded it pre-release. Last year, Canadian games journalist Geoff Keighley hosted the very first Game Awards ceremony. The show took place in December, after gaming trade shows E3, TGS and Gamescom were done for the year and it aimed to be both a celebration of the industry as well as a showcase for some exciting end of year reveals. The Game Awards also allowed Keighley to set up a more grown up replacement to the Spike Video Game Awards, which had continuously been criticized for their awkwardness, as well as the way they put the focus on celebrity cameos and comedic gags rather than the industry’s hard work and efforts....

The upcoming Halo TV adaptation will have at least one familiar voice from the games that fans may recognize. Voice actress Jen Taylor has hopped on board to reprise her role as the AI Cortana in Showtime’s new series based on the popular video game franchise. The Halo TV series has been in the works since 2013, with Steven Spielberg as an executive producer from his company Amblin Television. Showtime picked up the show for a first season consisting of ten episodes, teaming up with developer 343 Industries....

The official Google Stadia Twitter account has been making fun of its small library of games in a post that failed to spell out the name of the service with game titles. The people who purchased one of the premium editions of Google Stadia have had access to the service since November and one of the main complaints that fans have had is a lack of games, as well as many promised features not being available at launch....

Star Citizen, an early access game that shows plenty of promise, has stirred up quite a bit of criticism in the past, largely due to its court case against refunds, but is considered by many fans to be the pinnacle of what is possible within both the Sci-Fi genre and games as a whole. And Andor just added a second Star Wars credit to the actor’s filmography. Until Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) cut his character in half with a lightsaber in The Last Jedi, Serkis provided the motion capture and voice of the mysterious Snoke, Supreme Leader of the First Order and the unknowing puppet paving the way for Emperor Palpatine’s eventual return in The Rise of Skywalker....

As a franchise, Star Wars has always been somewhat obsessed with giant, powerful weapons of war. There’s been some variety here of there, but one only needs to look through a list of the deadliest weapons in the galaxy to see that it’s true. The most terrifying part is how Knights of the Old Republic 2’s Kreia, otherwise known as Darth Traya, rivals them in sheer destructive power. Kreia couldn’t destroy a planet, per se, but her machinations and her plans as a Sith Lord and afterward shows how risks in Star Wars pay off....

Well, here we are at the end of all things. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the movie billed as the conclusion to the saga/mythology/lifestyle choice that George Lucas launched some 42 years ago with an unassuming little $9 million space opera called Star Wars. Disney and Lucasfilm’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story introduced fans to Cassian Andor, an intelligence officer for the Rebel Alliance portrayed by Diego Luna. While the Star Wars anthology film seemingly marked the first and only appearance by Andor, audiences will reunite with the character when his standalone series titled Andor debuts on Disney+ in 2022. In Rogue One, Cassian Andor was tasked with locating and assassinating Imperial scientist Galen Erso, the primary designer of the Death Star who intentionally included a critical weakness in the weapon....

After finally being shown off in full at E3 2015 during EA’s press conference, Star Wars Battlefront is quickly nearing its launch date later this year. While being one of the most anticipated titles of the year, DICE is working hard to convince those still skeptical that the title won’t be a simple reskin of their other popular Battlefield franchise. So far, EA has only shown off bits of the game, from the huge multiplayer battles on planets like Hoth and Endor, to smaller co-op focused missions....

Industrial Light and Magic announces the release date for its new virtual reality experience, Trials on Tatooine, at the Star Wars Celebration convention in London. This weekend, Star Wars fans from across the globe descended upon London to take part in the Celebration event. Some were disappointed that the rumored Episode VIII teaser didn’t make the show — but the convention did provide some more details on the intriguing Trials on Tatooine....

Even Valve’s Steam is taking part in the launch of next-generation consoles like the PS5 this week, it seems. While the PC platform exists largely separated from console platforms, outside of multiplatform games, there’s one other area of important crossover. That being console controllers. Millions of Steam users connect controllers to their PCs, which means that there are going to be a lot of PS5 buyers hoping to use their DualSense controller....
