Red Dead was a franchise that was fairly unknown for the most part…that is, until Rockstar Games took over the IP and bestowed upon us one of the greatest open-world adventures of all time in the form of Red Dead Redemption. For the longest time, this was the only peek that gamers had into the Red Dead series until Rockstar Games decided to up the ante and release a sequel that most people consider to be one of the greatest open-world games of the modern generation....

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is finally official and Rocksteady’s next game looks like it could be one of the highlights of 2022. The story will pit four members of the Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn, King Shark, Captain Boomerang and Deadshot, against members of the Justice League in an open-world Metropolis. Players may be hesitant to go up against some of the most iconic DC heroes, but judging from the Suicide Squad trailer, it seems that strange things are happening in Metropolis and whatever is going on in the city is affecting the Justice League as well....

It’s that time of the year again! The annual week-long speedrun marathon Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) is this week, raising money from donations for Doctors Without Borders. Raising over $3,000,000 in donations last summer, SGDQ is looking to top themselves yet again with this year’s marathon. Though the event unfortunately had to stray away from the typical layout with a live in-house audience due to the COVID-19 pandemic, viewers can still expect to see the same high quality of gameplay and commentary, straight from the homes of the runners themselves....

Although the developers behind the smash indie hit Super Meat Boy first announced its sequel, Super Meat Boy Forever, with a teaser trailer back in 2014, news of it has been relatively quiet since. While a trailer for it was shown at PAX West last year, its release date has involved nothing but speculation, until now. Tales from the Borderlands is quite different from the other Borderlands games, boasting Telltale’s signature focus on player choice and focused storytelling instead of the looter shooter gameplay the franchise is known for. I was nothing less than obsessed with Pokemon when I was younger. I watched every episode of the anime, saw every movie in theaters, and played almost every main Pokemon game through Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire. In addition, I was even a dedicated card collector, resulting in the binder still sitting up in my room with the original 150 Pokemon cards in it, most of which are in great condition (and no, I refuse to ever sell them, no matter how much I could get for some of my first edition cards)....

Slated to release as the 10th DCEU film and a reboot of the Batman franchise, Batman (2021) has been the topic of hot discussion for some time. It is currently slated to release in June 2021, but shooting for the film has been delayed as a result of the on-going coronavirus pandemic. There’s no mania like Beatlemania, and Peter Jackson’s The Beatles: Get Back is both proof of that, and a direct consequence of it. A lot of the reviews said it was an overlong and unnecessary affair. Well, Disney+ let Jackson include swearing in the documentary, so, fuck them. He prefers his own 18-hour cut to this just-under-eight-hour documentary series, and he’s “right and will be proved right,” to paraphrase John Lennon....

It was a very happy Fourth of July holiday weekend for movie theater owners in the U.S. For the second week in a row, the top three highest grossing movies all crossed $20 million when the four-day window is accounted for. More impressive still, all of the weekend’s top five grossing pics are on the road to turning a hefty profit, with the second highest earner, Paramount’s Top Gun: Maverick, adding an astonishing $25....

When Sebastian Stan made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Captain America: The First Avenger, it wasn’t as a costumed hero. Instead, it was as the friend to Steve Rogers who was going off to war. Bucky Barnes eventually lost his life thanks to Hydra experimentation and became the assassin known as the Winter Soldier, not unlike his comic book counterpart. One of the most surprising reveals from Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was the introduction of Seinfeld and Veep star (and all-around comic legend) Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine, also known in the Marvel comic book canon as Madame Hydra. While it remains to be seen how faithful the character will be to her comic book origins and narratives, it’s clear from the start that the Contessa (Val for short) is a schemer and string-puller who has leverage in some very high places....
