Last week was a bit of a mixed bag for Marvel’s Avengers. Clint Barton - the second Hawkeye in the game so far - debuted to a lukewarm reception, but one of the biggest surprises of the entire Square Enix showcase saw the reveal of Black Panther, due to arrive in the game sometime in the vague ‘Summer 2021 and Beyond’ window. It also saw the first gameplay footage of Forspoken, previously known as Project Athia, but more on that later....

The voice actor for Ellie from The Last Of Us reveals that she would love to return to work on The Last Of Us 2, provided Naughty Dog continue Ellie and Joel’s story. The Last Of Us launched to nearly-universal critical acclaim, earning itself a rare perfect score from Game Rant and leaving fans clamoring for more of the property’s riveting narrative, tense gameplay, and memorable characters. Now that creative director Neil Druckmann has confirmed work has finally started on a sequel to The Last Of Us, there’s plenty of reason to wonder where the narrative will go after the relatively open ending for Joel and Ellie from the first title....

As we recently reported, The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is getting a whole lot of quality of life improvements. Almost ten years since the original Wii game’s launch, the upgrades to this remaster are clearly aiming to bring it more in line with modern Zelda games like Breath of the Wild. Nintendo uploaded a video going over the expected improvements - higher frame-rate, the ability to speed through dialogue, skippable cutscenes etc - but seemed to miss one handy little feature out....

It’s not surprising that there’s a large amount of hype surrounding an HD remaster of Skyward Sword. With the Wii being 15 years old in 2021, many people never had a chance to play the original title. Skyward Sword is an essential Zelda installment, chronologically taking place before all other games in the series. Those playing for the first time will see the Zelda universe before there was a Hyrule Castle or Ganon....

Earlier this year, Rockstar Games released The Music of Red Dead Redemption 2: The Housebuilding EP on digital and vinyl, bringing one of the most recognizable songs from the game directly to fans’ ears. David Ferguson, Producer and Composer, and Matt Sweeney, Producer and Composer, who co-wrote the EP took the time to answer some questions about the process of writing The Music of Red Dead Redemption 2: The Housebuilding EP and how creating music for a video game differs from other mediums....

His farewell episode ‘Goodbye, Michael’ and those running up to it, were emotional and satisfying. They showed branch manager Michael Scott finally getting the love he’d always craved, and crucially, deserving it too. Once a thin-skinned, desperate-for-approval man-child, Michael had been redeemed into somebody who didn’t take himself too seriously and no longer needed the spotlight....

The time has come to face the truth about the biggest crime in the history of the Pokémon franchise, as the official Pokémon Twitter account has pointed out that Porygon has done nothing wrong. Porygon has had almost no role in the Pokémon anime, due to an incident that occurred in Japan in ‘97. There was an episode of the anime called “Cyber Soldier Porgyon”, where Ash and his friends entered a virtual world with the aid of a Poryon....

More than 15 years after being released on the original Xbox and PC, Republic Commando is finally making its way to PlayStation and Nintendo platforms for the first time, thanks to Aspyr, the studio behind several other successful LucasArts-era Star Wars ports for consoles and mobile. This is a good time to remember just how special this somewhat forgotten Clone Wars game really was. A game I consider to be among the best LucasArts had to offer in its later years, Republic Commando arrived at an interesting time in the company’s history....

Star Wars: Squadrons is dropping tomorrow, October 2, and critics are already sharing their first impressions of EA Motive’s space-battle simulator. Star Wars: Squadrons has received generally positive reviews so far, with several critics praising the title for its combination of easy-to-learn but difficult-to-master mechanics that reward dedicated players. Squadrons is the spiritual descendant of Star Wars: X-Wing and the Rogue Squadron series. The former of those titles played like a flight-simulator in the vein of Elite: Dangerous, while the latter was more of an arcade shooter that toured players through some of the franchise’s best moments....

When The Force Unleashed was first announced at E3 2006, it looked poised to be the most ambitious Star Wars game ever made, and 16 years later it is an underrated classic, but it also marked the beginning of the end for Lucasfilm’s legendary game development division, LucasArts. Changes in strategy and restructuring within the company, the lackluster performance of The Force Unleashed II, and a massive sale in 2012 that saw Disney acquire Lucasfilm and all its assets from George Lucas were the final nails in the coffin of the publisher that less than a decade earlier had released Knights of the Old Republic....

With the Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta underway (at least for those customers with early access), it was only a matter of time before some footage of the beta in action appeared online. However, it appears as though an unexpected leak has emerged instead, as footage of the Kamino multiplayer map - which is not in the beta itself - has now leaked. A fairly extensive video of Kamino has appeared, and it certainly makes interesting viewing for those thinking about picking up Star Wars Battlefront 2 but who have not yet decided on the game....

As has become custom for the storefront, yesterday marked the first day in a new Steam Game festival, with players able to learn more about the slate of upcoming PC titles meant to be hitting the marketplace. Previous Steam festivals have seen a number of games displayed or showcased through demos, including the System Shock remake, Observer: System Redux, and Ghost Runner. This month’s take on the festival will offer several upcoming games the same treatment and is running from right now until February 9....

Amongst PC gamers, there’s a growing sense of apathy towards Games for Windows (the Microsoft PC gaming service that’s set to shut down later this year) and amongst many recently released laptops there’s a growing list of hardware that’s lacking an optical disc drive. Needless to say, PC gamers have been quick to jump on the digital bullet train and while EA’s Origin service is a fine (if not occasionally criticised) way to get EA games, for titles published by everybody else, there’s Steam and Steam is on the up....

With Red Orchestra 2 already out, Battlefield 3, the full version of Minecraft and of course, Star Wars: The Old Republic, coming in time for the holiday season, it’s prime time for gamers to prep and/or upgrade their PCs for some quality gaming experiences. Over the last few weeks, we’ve been testing out some of SteelSeries’ headsets and other gaming peripherals to see if they’ll do the job and so today, we’ll start by telling you about the SteelSeries Shift gaming keyboard....

No survivor on an island is ready to tackle the day without a Toolbelt, and in Stranded Deep there are four Toolbelts in total. Crafted from simple Lashing to begin with, then eventually from the Leather you’ve harvested and tanned, the Toolbelt lets you hotkey items to certain buttons or numbers. There are a bunch of different tools and items in the game. You’ll be using them regularly, like your Hammer or Axe, so the Toolbelt makes navigating between the items much easier....

Capcom details the story mode for its upcoming fighting game Street Fighter V by introducing two new modes called Character Stories and the Cinematic Story Expansion. Seemingly taking a page out of NetherRealm Studios playbook, Capcom is placing a bigger focus on story with their upcoming fighting game Street Fighter V. Up until now, details were scarce on just what was being planned but a new trailer and post from Peter “ComboFiend” Rosas on the Capcom Unity blog has finally given fans the information on what they can expect....

The next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate event involves Spirits that love to pop a cap in their opponents, as “Locked and Loaded” features gun-toting enemies. The Super Smash Bros. series has battles that use much larger arenas than other fighting games. This is notable when it comes to ranged combat. In most fighting games, the ability to spam fireballs can be dangerous, as there might not be enough room for enemies to maneuver around them....

If you’re in New York City or planning to take a trip there, it could be worth going during the week of E3. Nintendo announced that its E3 presentation will be streamed at Nintendo NY, the famed store in Manhattan dedicated to Nintendo products. Arguably the primary reason why it’s worth attending is that guests will have a chance to play the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Switch, as well as Mario Tennis Aces....

Gameforge is partnering with Wangyuan Shengtang & Aurogon to bring the popular Chinese MMORPG – Gu Jian Qi Tan Online – to a western audience later this year. The game will be retitled Swords of Legends Online and is expected to be a remastered and improved version of the MMO currently available in the east. Swords of Legends Online will be available for PC through Steam, Epic Games Store, and the official Gameforge client....
