2020 was a banner year for video game publisher XSEED, releasing nine different titles over the course of the year while exceeding previous highest-sales and fastest-selling records worldwide. This is all especially impressive given the fact that it happened during such an unprecedented year for the industry. 2020 was also the first time that I played a game released by XSEED, Granblue Fantasy: Versus, which led to me playing even more titles including Ys: Memories of Celceta, Kandagawa Jet Girls, and Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, the latter of which ended up as one of my top-ten games 2020....

A gamer has amazingly beaten all five “Soulsborne” games without taking a single hit. The Happy Hob, a Twitch streamer, completed what he calls the “God Run” on the eve of the Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice launch, beating Bloodborne, Dark Souls 1-3, and Demon’s Souls back-to-back without suffering so much as one bit of enemy-inflicted damage after months of trying. Hob made his own rules for this quest. Any hit from an enemy or damage from any trap would see him start the five-game run from scratch....

Super Mario 3D World has tons of level gimmicks and power-ups among its levels, but one of the most varied parts of the game are undoubtedly its several bosses. Many of them have a simple core theme of jumping on their head, but the obstacles they throw at you to protect themselves are some of the most intimidating and frustrating. Whether you’re playing the game for the first time, or just trying to beat them faster than ever in the boss rush level in the post-game’s Flower World, you’ll need to deal with them a few times throughout the game....

A clue to the identity of the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate character may have been revealed by a listing on Nintendo’s own Amiibo website. The Amiibo line of toys were heavily promoted by the Super Smash Bros. series at the beginning, thanks to every character from Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U being represented as figures. Nintendo heavily pushed the Amiibo line for a while, but support seems to have dried up in recent years, with titles like Luigi’s Mansion 3 not receiving new toys or supporting old ones....

The Spike Video Game Awards’ Game of the Year The Walking Dead is finally available on retail. While each episode (5 in total) from Telltale Games’ first season of The Walking Dead have released over the past several months, this is the first time gamers can pick the title up, in boxed form, in one fell swoop. While the episodic format helped provide gamers with enough time to emotionally recoup between playthroughs, there are still some out there that would rather marathon through all 5 episodes – maybe even in one sitting – and this retail version accommodates that nicely....

The Avatar: The Last Airbender tabletop RPG can reportedly take place during the time of Kyoshi, Roku, Aang, or Korra. Earlier this month, Magpie Games announced that they will be producing a new Avatar: The Last Airbender tabletop RPG, and now we have more details about what it will entail. In a new interview with Dicebreaker, Mark Truman, CEO of Magpie Games spoke about the upcoming Avatar RPG, while also touching on some interesting details....

Division 2 devs insist they had no idea that the next Assassin’s Creed game would be called Valhalla when they put a fun easter egg in the game. If you’ve spent any amount of time in the wasteland of Washington DC, you might have come across a poster for a fake opera that would have played at the JFK Center had the world not ended in a bio-engineered plague. Called “Valhalla,” the poster features a more historically accurate depiction of a Norseman than the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game, but it also is very clearly a reference to Assassin’s Creed in general....

YouTube user Arekkz provides a handy farming path for players to follow in Tom Clancy’s The Division who are looking to acquire the rare crafting resource division tech. While The Division continues to break sales records after successfully launching last week, many players are still coming to grips with the many items inside of the game and what they are capable of doing. From the multitude of currencies like Dark Zone Funds, Phoenix Credits, and the common Division Credits to an assortment of crafting materials like electronics or weapon tools, the material known as division tech remains somewhat of an enigma for most players, especially those who have yet to enter the PvP enabled Dark Zone....

As promised, Ubisoft finally revealed The Division 2 to the public at E3 2018, showing off a seven-month time jump as well as a shift in location from New York City to Washington, D.C. One of the biggest announcements comes to the end game which Ubisoft confirmed to include free DLC, further progression, and specialization systems as well as 8 player raids. While Ubisoft will continue to support The Division as long as people are playing it, the developer has begun to try and bridge the gap between the two games as evidenced by the latest and last official update which adds in a new reward system for The Division 2....

Almalexia’s backstory makes for some interesting reading. Once a mortal woman, she was transformed into a god after meddling with the Heart of Lorkhan. Along with her co-rulers, Vivec and Sotha Sil, she became a founding member of the Tribunal Temple, worshipped by the Dunmer people for centuries. The story of Almalexia is ultimately a tragic one. Cursed by a vengeful Daedric Prince, she would eventually inflict almost irreparable damage to her once-glorious reputation....

So, I have to give it up for Delia Harrington, who reviewed the first two chapters of “Crisis on Earth-X” for us (after all, Supergirl and Arrow are her beat these days). I tend to get caught up in the moment with these big superhero crossover episodes, and I find them a little harder to judge/review than your average weekly installment of DC TV. And the first two chapters of this crossover were so fun, so packed with the spirit of DC Comics, and so full of cathartic Nazi fighting that it’s harder for me to be objective....

Demon’s Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro: the last half a decade has been hit after hit for FromSoftware. Sure, Demon’s Souls was a remaster developed by another studio - but at the end of the day, it’s still From’s IP. But FromSoftware’s history extends beyond just Souls. While Dark is the spiritual successor to Demon’s, Demon’s is arguably the spiritual successor to King’s Field. All of these games, despite being independent of one another, feel remarkably similar - so what’s the harm in fully committing to this modus operandi, in which spiritual continuations are favored over direct sequels?...

As fans patiently anticipate the first anniversary of The Last of Us 2, others have decided to focus their attention on the first game in the series and its HD remaster. Working with the nearly eight year old The Last of Us, fans of Naughty Dog’s cinematic title have introduced a mod to patch out a strange glitch that the developer had never fixed before.
