Netflix’s adaption of Castlevania may have helped to bring video game anime into the mainstream, but anime adaptations of video game series have been around for almost as long as home video games themselves. There have been hundreds of them since the late eighties, many of which have gone on to garner huge fanbases. Castlevania’s success has, however, paved the way for adaptations of some of the more niche video game series....

Sad news for fans of the ARMS series. The comic book adaptation from Dark Horse based on the Nintendo Switch fighting game has been cancelled. This news comes directly from writer Ian Flynn. Back in 2017, the Nintendo Switch was still bathing in the success of titles like Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. To, hopefully, keep that momentum going Nintendo released ARMS with the promise that it was a fighter game like no other....

Metal Gear is unquestionably one of the greatest video game franchises of all time. The series’ tactical espionage action meshes beautifully with Hideo Kojima’s utterly insane yet poignant, heartfelt, societally relevant, and thematically sound story. Solid Snake carries a franchise on his back, every arc narratively or thematically tying into the story he kicked off when invading Outer Heaven in Metal Gear for the MSX. Since Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is one of Ubisoft’s biggest upcoming games, it’s no surprise that it was featured heavily during the company’s E3 2018 press conference, with multiple trailers highlighting the experience. Besides hyping up what fans can expect from The Division 2 at launch, though, Ubisoft also teased what’s coming to the game after its release. As announced by Ubisoft today at E3 2018, the company is already planning The Division 2’s first year of DLC....

Ubisoft reveals some of the changes that Update 1.4 will bring to The Division, which are meant to fix many gameplay issues and give the game “more of a shooter feeling.” Ubisoft’s The Division had an extremely successful release, but has since been bleeding players that abandoned the open-world cover-based shooter due to numerous bugs and rampant cheating within the game. Since its release, Ubisoft has been attempting to fix The Division with updates and server maintenance....

Amos is no stranger to using nicknames for those he interacts with in The Expanse. Bobbie, Avasarala, and most recently the modded criminal Konechek, don’t seem to really like their nicknames: “Babs,” “Chrissy,” and “Tiny” respectively. But while Clarissa doesn’t actively embrace the nickname of “Peaches,” it has become a term of endearment that she at least tolerates (and maybe even enjoys) during their survival tale in season 5. Unfortunately, to open it, players must first enter a four-digit code. The solution to breaking the code to the bunker door falls under the password trope of birthdays and wedding anniversaries. The first indication that quarantining during a pandemic would lead to more time spent gaming was a shortage of copies of peripheral-based workout game Ring Fit Adventure for the Nintendo Switch in China as the coronavirus first began to impact the country. One of the things Star Trek became somewhat infamous for in the late 1990s and early 2000s was recycling old plots in new episodes. Voyager and Enterprise both featured several episodes throughout their runs that seemed to be re-runs of earlier stories from The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine or even the Original Series, with a slight tweaking to the setting. Originality in fiction is often over-rated – Shakespeare didn’t make up his own plots, and simply noting the use of an existing plot or theme is not, in itself, a criticism....
