Halloween is traditionally the time for the rush-release of a million iffy umpteenth sequels, upsettingly-serious remakes and bloody awful found footage bullshit. Luckily, this is exactly the kind of hazardous material this blog was set-up for, so sit back and allow me to swim face-first through the deluge of dross, semi-dross and surprising non-dross for a special bumper batch of releases. The new season of Destiny 2 features one of the darkest stories ever told in the game’s history: the Presage mission....

The Division was a polarizing game when it released back in 2015, and it remains a polarizing game today. Fortunately, The Division 2 is shaping up to satisfy its loyal fan base while addressing the issues holding The Division back from more widespread acclaim. Massive Entertainment Content Specialist rxlyaT confirmed on Wednesday that a 4K 60 fps update will be coming to The Division 2. According to this tweet and the replies, this patch will be arriving on PS5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X on February 2, 2021. Ubisoft itself has not announced this information, but as he’s an employee of The Division 2 developer, it seems very likely this will be the case....

Bethesda’s MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online is coming to Stadia June 16th and Pro subscribers will get to play the game for free. Like the pseudo-MMO Destiny 2, which arrived with Stadia Pro at launch, The Elder Scrolls Online will launch on Stadia with both cross-play support and cross-progression. That means that players will be able to play with their PC friends on Stadia, and if players already have characters on the PC version, they can continue right where they left off on Stadia....

After seven years of waiting, fans of The Last of Us were ecstatic to get their hands on the game’s sequel, The Last of Us Part II, which served as the direct continuation to the events in the first game. It puts players in the shoes of Ellie, the only known individual immune to the cordyceps brain infection that devastated the rest of the country. While players can jump right into The Last of Us Part II after completing The Last of Us, the DLC, The Last of Us: Left Behind, provides further backstory into Ellie’s past, while also shedding more light on what Ellie did after Joel found himself impaled during their trip to a Colorado university....

Just a few days before shutting down its first-party Google Stadia game studios in Montreal and Los Angeles, executives reportedly praised the developers for their hard work and progress the studio had made so far, leading to mass confusion within the company. Google’s cloud gaming service Stadia got off to a rocky start in late 2019. Though many users were initially impressed that Stadia looked to stand up against PC gaming as an alternative, post-launch, gamers were disappointed with Google’s product....

In an interview with UploadVR, Star Wars: Squadrons creative director Ian Frazier indicated that developer Motive Studios doesn’t intend to release any DLC for the game. “Never say never, so to speak, but as far as our philosophy goes we’re not trying to treat the game as a live service,” Frazier says. “We don’t want to say, ‘It’s almost done!’ and then dribble out more of it over time, which to be honest is how most games work these days....

EA announces a Star Wars Battlefront 2 multiplayer beta that will take place this fall. The game is set to have a huge presence at E3 2017 this weekend, with a new trailer being teased for the event. Love it or hate it, the most recent Star Wars trilogy was divisive among fans. While we are not here right now to judge the films as good or bad, one of the biggest issues of the last three films was the inability to flesh out and deliver on too many promises made to the audience. Rather than keep trying to replicate the past with films that are stretched thin, the time has come for Star Wars to shift towards the smaller screen, adding quality through longer storytelling and more diverse plots....

There are few directors as decorated and successful as Steven Spielberg. The man himself has often talked about how growing up in Arizona served as inspiration for some of his early films. But now, Spielberg is getting ready to give viewers a first hand look at what his childhood was like. Up until now the closest audiences had been to Spielberg’s personal stories was in a 2017 documentary by HBO titled “Spielberg” that focused on the filmmaker’s beginnings in the movie industry and how he became a director....

Entertainment Production Studio No Code has launched a live-play game on its Twitter account titled The Site Investigate - Stories Untold Live. The game launched on December 22, and is being posted in the classic choose-your-own-adventure style of play. As of this writing, the gameplay thread is 29 posts long, and has attracted the attention and activity of numerous players. Stories Untold Live seems to indicate the game is somehow tied into No Code’s original Stories Untold game that launched in February 2017....

With EVO 2018 having taken place this past weekend, fighting game fans received plenty of reveals and announcements for some of their favorite titles. In addition to the many player tournaments that took place, some of the announcements included a Super Smash Bros Ultimate specific Nintendo Direct for later this week and a second season of content for Tekken 7 which includes Negan from The Walking Dead franchise. Capcom also made a surprise announcement that the final two characters for season 3 of Street Fighter 5 would be arriving together....

Magnetite is a valuable resource in Subnautica: Below Zero that’s found in a variety of different biomes. Some of them, like the Crystal Caves and Deep Lilypads Caves, can be a bit dangerous. However, there are some safer locations with plenty of Magnetite to craft everything you need. Because Magnetite is found in Ore Veins, you will probably be getting quite a lot every time you go mining for it. Occasionally, some Ore Veins will require the Prawn Suit Drill Arm to crack open, but you can find Magnetite in regular veins as well....

The more you progress through Subnautica, the more you’ll learn about the game’s real story, what is going on with Planet 4546B, and what you’ll need to do to escape from it. The game will take you down a path where you’ll eventually come face to face with the gargantuan Sea Emperor Leviathan, a creature so big, old, and wise it even has telepathic abilities. But before you can meet this leviathan and free it from the facility where the Precursor Race imprisoned it, you’ll have to find a way to enter the Primary Containment Facility, an Alien Base located in the Lava Lakes area....

Super Bomberman R Online is now available for free on Google Stadia. This is the second game Stadia users can now access for free on the service, following Destiny 2: New Light last month. Originally retailing for $9.99, anyone who uses Google’s popular streaming service will now be able to play the game for free. Several different modes are offered, including a massive 64-player battle royale. It might not have the same allure as Destiny 2, but it’s a great game to pick up and play with a few friends and is a fun addition to the Bomberman series....
