With the release of Paranormal Activity, the stock of Blumhouse and producer Jason Blum has skyrocketed. That seems to be a strange thing to say about someone who cut his teeth working under Bob and Harvey Weinstein and who counts Steve Martin as a family friend, but with the Paranormal Activity franchise raking in money hand over fist with every release—even Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones made a big profit—and multiple successful horror franchises in Sinister and Insidious, it’s pretty clear to see that Jason Blum has become a force in modern horror....

It’s always fascinating to hear two developers talking business, and a recent conversation between Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann and Guerrilla Games’ Hermen Hulst recently threw out such fascinating tidbits as the fact that Horizon: Zero Dawn originally had guns. However, Druckmann himself was also happy to open up, stating that he aims to top the graphics of the Guerrilla Games’ title with The Last of Us 2. “The graphics are staggering,” said Druckmann in the interview....

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles started life as a gritty, black-and-white comic book based on an idea from co-creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. Different iterations of the brothers have seen them as bright, colorful cartoon characters and hulking Michael Bay-inspired mutants, but the comics have generally always had a more grounded portrayal of Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo. This darker take will be further explored in IDW Publishing’s recently announced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin....

NIS America is bringing several popular JRPGs to Stadia this year, including Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana and The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV. Three of the four games will go live in April, while a fourth will launch later this summer. All told, Stadia will add four NIS America games to its roster – two from the Ys series and two from The Legend of Heroes series....

Similarly to PlayStation Plus and the Xbox Live Games with Gold programs, Google offers new free games to Stadia Pro subscribers each month. Now Google has announced the free games coming to Stadia Pro for April 2020, which includes three new titles. Beginning in April, Stadia Pro subscribers can claim Serious Sam Collection, which includes Serious Sam: The First Encounter, Serious Sam: The Second Encounter, and Serious Sam 3: BFE. A fan effort calling themselves Apeiron is attempting to re-make the beloved Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, using Unreal Engine 4 to improve the game’s graphics. Attempting to remake one of the best Star Wars games of all time is no small feat, but the fan collective known as Apeiron is going to do its best to do Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic some current-gen justice. The team’s goal is to not just recreate the original Knights of the Old Republic game within Unreal Engine 4, but to actually improve on the original effort from BioWare that debuted all the way back in 2003....

Lucasfilm’s very own immersive entertainment division, ILMxLAB, has announced a brand new Star Wars series–one that will be released on the Oculus Quest (a new VR gaming console due out early next year). Although some may not have taken notice of it, the Steam gaming platform has offered a lot more than games during the last several years. However, one of those offerings is coming to an end, as Valve has now officially announced that it will be pulling all video content that isn’t directly linked to video games. Valve released an official statement explaining that the company has looked at ways to further expand Steam’s content, and that offering a way to download both free and paid videos was part of that process....

Summer Games Done Quick, a speedrunning marathon for charity, raised over $3,000,000 for Doctors Without Borders over the past week. This is the first time that any Games Done Quick event has broken the $3,000,000 threshold. Super Mario Maker 2 debuted at the number one spot during its first week of sales, where it faced stiff competition from Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, F1 2019, and Judgment. Moreover, the Switch exclusive maintained its spot in the second week of sales, with Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled maintaining its position in second place....

It is well-known that professional players take gaming tournaments seriously; often to an excessive degr.
