Every year since 2014, Geoff Keighley has hosted The Game Awards, doling out awards in various categories for the world’s top games. The Game Awards will return on December 10 for the 2020 edition, and while it may be a little different than expected thanks to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it should still be a huge, can’t-miss show for those who follow the gaming industry closely. To build up excitement for The Game Awards 2020, Keighley has released a new hype trailer highlighting some of the nominated games as well as titles that will be coming in 2021 and beyond....

Hilarious crafting and trading game Prison Boss VR is Canada-based Trebuchet Studio’s pride and joy. It’s been a hit so far, with praise pouring out from all corners of the VR community, and now - as of yesterday - it’s available on the Oculus Store. Both Steam and PlayStation VR users have already had access to Prison Boss VR since 2017 and 2018, respectively. But Trebuchet has now also launched the game (fitting, given its name) for both the Oculus Quest and its freshly-released sibling, the Oculus Quest 2....

Most early photographs look haunted. Perhaps it’s because we view these images with the knowledge that the people inside them are already ghosts. In some early photos the subject had actually already expired at the time of their capture. Earlier this year, Netflix added the classic Nickelodeon cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender to its streaming service. The Mandalorian season 2 will send Mando and Baby Yoda to new places across the galaxy and to new dangers, as the bounty hunter with a heart of gold searches for the Child’s home. As teased in the season’s first trailer ahead of the Oct. 30 premiere, the journey won’t be easy. Mando (Pedro Pascal) won’t only have to contend with other bounty hunters trying to get the jump on him but also the brutal Empire, which is still on the hunt for the Child....

First-person shooters are some of the most action-packed and thrilling games on the market. Some offer the ability to fly through space or live through history as players battle Nazis and topple the German regime. These games have changed through time and have had new mechanics in them that players have argued for and against. Some of these first-person shooter mechanics are so bad that they were removed from the genre due to criticism from fans....

EA has released the first trailer for Star Wars: Squadrons, setting the stage for a proper gameplay reveal coming later in the week. But besides releasing the trailer, EA also confirmed some additional details about the game, including the surprising fact that it will launch at a budget price. EA is not selling Star Wars: Squadrons as a full-priced $59.99 game. Come the Star Wars: Squadrons release date on October 2, fans will be able to purchase it for just $39....

This STAR WARS: THE MANDALORIAN article contains spoilers. “The Heiress” introduces several characters from other parts of the Star Wars saga to The Mandalorian, including two from The Clone Wars that will make fans jump in excitement. Din Djarin also meets another group of Mandalorians, one quite different to the tribe that raised him. There’s also a heist on an Imperial cruise that, as per usual, doesn’t go quite as planned....

A Bethesda job listing seems to suggest that voice acting on Starfield has begun. At E3 2018, Bethesda’s Todd Howard did confirm that the sci-fi RPG is in a playable state after having been in development at the company for a very long time. Bethesda has posted a job listing looking for a voice designer who will be part of the team “pushing the bleeding-edge of RPG development for the PC and consoles....

We’ve known since May of last year that Valve was working on a Steam client specifically for the Chinese mainland. We found out that it has several differences with the normal Steam client, not the least of which is a “healthy gaming advisory” message that appears every time the client boots up. Valve has been working with Chinese partner Perfect World for the better part of 2020 getting Steam China ready for shipping, and it looks like that’ll be happening in the first half of 2021....

It looks as though 2014 will be the year that Steam takes over our homes, even more than it already has for some PC gamers. Valve’s digital distribution software has already released more games this year than in the entirety of 2013, and its Steam controller and Steam Machines are both expected to be available before the end of the year. But Valve has never been a company to stop pushing ideas, and its latest Steam feature could be a very useful one....

Marvelous Inc’s Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, the fourth title in the series, is set to release for the Nintendo Switch in March of next year. Publisher XSEED Games has released a few details about the retail editions of the farming and life simulation game. In addition to the standard version, which will retail for $49.99, a limited premium edition for Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town will also be made available for $59....

It has been one month since the release of Super Mario Maker 2, and already over two million levels have been uploaded. Creators are having a blast utilizing all the many tools the game offers. Indeed, the wealth of enemies, platforms, and the like exceed what the first Super Mario Maker featured. Despite that however, there are a number of things missing from Super Mario Maker 2. Although the game certainly has enough to work with, there are features that would make it even more engaging....

Swamps of Corsus is a deceptively meaty expansion for one of my favorite games, Remnant: From The Ashes. The DLC brings three major updates to the game: a new rogue-like game called Survivor Mode, a map in Adventure Mode (Corsus) that comes with all the good adventure things — new weapons, armor, mods, bosses, etc. — and a new cosmetic reward system. These updates add more than just additional content; they create a reason to keep playing even after you’ve seen every new boss and collected every new weapon....
