News reports continued to count the number of dead while people in charge downplayed its seriousness or offered dubious advice on dealing with the disease. It certainly didn’t interrupt many golf games. As workers were furloughed from jobs, they binged. One of the movies at the top of the playlist was The Masque of the Red Death, Roger Corman’s 1964 low budget masterpiece....

DICE-developed multiplayer shooter Star Wars Battlefront receives a new offline game mode in the form of Skirmish, alongside a number of other changes. It’s fair to say that offline Star Wars Battlefront players may have found little to keep them occupied. The game very much has a focus on multiplayer, so much so that John Boyega has even decried the game’s lack of single player story mode. Thankfully, offline players did have something to look forward to when the offline Skirmish mode was revealed, and the new game mode has promptly arrived....

Tie Fighters are renowned in the Star Wars universe due to their screeching sound and fast-paced destruction. Naturally, it’d be an instinct to hop into one as soon as you boot up Star Wars: Squadrons. However, new players jumping in since Star Wars: Squadron joined Xbox Game Pass will see that the Empire’s standard ship is extremely hard to master. “At the end of its E3 2018 Press Conference, Bethesda broke with tradition and revealed two games that are further out than the next 12 months. One, Elder Scrolls 6, is a long time coming for Bethesda, and the other, Starfield, is something completely new. As a bit of a recap, there’s a lot of evidence in New Horizons that will lead a reasonable human being to assume that CJ and Flick are gay lovers....

It’s easy to sit in your room with a fancy rig kitted out with an Nvidia 3080 and laugh at Cyberpunk 2077’s performance on last-gen consoles. And let’s be real - the performance is pretty funny. The bugs are so widespread and prevalent that the internet has taken to memeing the entire game - which, if The Witcher 3 is anything to go by, will probably run excellently in a few months’ time....

Frontier Foundry, in association with Chasing Rats Games, has announced the immediate release of Struggling, a bizarre physics-based co-op platformer with a unique art style. The game sees two players take control of the arms of Troy, a genetically engineered lab experiment that continues to mutate during his outrageous adventure. Struggling combines comedy and horror as it takes players on a journey through horrific labs, strange hyper-dreams, dangerous canyons, and more in this fiendishly difficult co-op title....

The rumors were apparently true. Without telling anyone, Nintendo has launched a surprise Mini Direct that contains around 25 minutes of new announcements. We’ll have a full round-up once we get to watching it, but the very first trailer is for Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. We can quickly tell you that it will be launching on May 29, 2020, and come with an additional epilogue campaign. News of this direct was rumored by VentureBeat writer Jeff Grub yesterday....

Cult classic JRPG Tales of Vesperia will be coming to Xbox Game Pass for console and PC on October 15. Other titles like Sword of Ditto: Mormo’s Curse and Katana Zero are also joining the service this month. Siliconera found that this is the only Japanese title to release on Xbox Game Pass this month. Thankfully, it will be the Definitive Edition of the game, which comes with improved visuals, new music tracks, and two characters that were previously exclusive to the Japan-only PS3 version: Patty Fleur and Flynn Scifo....

Netflix and the creators of their hit show Outer Banks have had a lawsuit filed against them by Kevin Wooten, a North Carolina English teacher and author. Wooten is claiming copyright infringement, saying that Outer Banks stole the plot from his 2016 novel “Pennywise: The Hunt For Blackbeard’s Treasure.” Filed on December 21, 2020, the official suit alleges that the show and Wooten’s book both take place on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and have the same number of main characters with similar storylines who discover similar clues leading them to buried treasure....

Telltale Games cut its teeth on humorous games like Sam & Max, Monkey Island, and Back to the Future, but it wasn’t until the ultra-serious The Walking Dead premiered that the studio’s point-and-click adventure formula really found its footing. Since then, Telltale’s been on a roll. Not only is The Walking Dead heading into its third “season,” but The Wolf Among Us (a spin-off of Vertigo’s popular Fables comics) received rave reviews....

Players of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds have been complaining for some time that the game has a cheating problem. The game’s creator, PUBG Corporation, is already using anti-cheat software to ban cheaters but this isn’t the only thing that’s being done to tackle the issue. According to a new report by Bloomberg, Tencent, the company responsible for the game’s Chinese localization and the mobile port, has been working with Chinese police to catch cheat makers....

There were a lot of great multiplayer games on PS4 this year. Some of them were even exclusive. Overall, as its last year as the dominant PlayStation console, the PS4 had games to spare. Now, there are some caveats to this ranking. First of all, these games are just some of the best of the year, all ranking high in the green numbers on Metacritic. Secondly, besides numbers, additional reading had to be considered....
