If it were up to me, the title of this article would be more R-rated than it is, and not because I want to be edgy. But during a recent preview event for Bloober Team’s highly-anticipated new horror game, The Medium, watching the dual-reality gameplay in action had my mind all sorts of fucked up - which is a significant jump in intensity over my mind being merely “messed up”, as the title might otherwise suggest....

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is an excellent game. From the flowing fjords of Norway to the meadows and marshland of Saxonic England, to the excellent portrayal of Ireland in Wrath of the Druids, it depicts a world that is as raw as it is raucous, as gorgeous as it is gruesome. I also think it tells a compelling story - more so than Origins or Odyssey before it - that teems with fascinating characters, historical intrigue, and clever mythological texturing....

Google‘s Stadia team reportedly cancelled numerous projects and third-party licensing deals, including a multiplayer game from a former Assassin’s Creed developer. Other abandoned projects included a sequel to Journey to the Savage Planet, as well as agreements with Hideo Kojima, developer of Death Stranding, and Yu Suzuki, designer of Outrun, to create exclusive games for the platform, sources told VGC. In a statement released on February 1, the company said it would to provide technology and platform tools to external partners, rather than developing original titles in-house....

Google Stadia made several exciting announcements during today’s Holiday Live Hangout. Among the biggest news was the immediate release of two games – Outcasters and Submerged: Hidden Depths – and exclusive content for Journey to the Savage Planet. Outcasters, a wild new game from Splash Damage, is now available as a free title for Stadia Pro members or $19.99 on the Stadia store. Despite not having the slightest indication of a release date in sight, Star Citizen continues to attract legions of investors. The title, which is being developed for PC, has officially passed another whopping crowdfunding milestone, with Star Citizen amassing over $350 million. Announced back in 2012 via Kickstarter, Cloud Imperium Games’ ambitious sci-fi MMO has undergone a long development process. The game was set to fully release in 2015, but accusations of the title being stuck in “development hell” have led head game designer Chris Roberts to announce that Star Citizen isn’t a “pipe dream....

Some Star Wars games aged to become all-time classics worth replaying. Unfortunately, Shadows Of The Empire is not one of those games. It launched to an immediate flood of love from fans but has anyone actually gone back to play it? Shadows Of The Empire has aged quite poorly, to the point of nearly unplayable. It may have been impressive back in 1996 but much like Boba Fett, it was cooler to look at than it was actually good....

Star Wars: Andor opens up a whole new corner of the galaxy far, far away, one where workers clock in to their jobs at the scrapyard and corporate bureaucracy rules entire sectors of space. It’s here where Cassian is poised to introduce a bit of chaos, as he goes from common crook to the Rebel secret agent we’ve already met in Rogue One. While the first three episodes of the show focus on who Cassian was before there even was a Rebel Alliance to join, they also introduce plenty of other characters, planets, and factions who play a role in the Galactic Civil War to come....

This Star Wars: The Bad Batch article contains spoilers. The second episode of The Bad Batch, “Cut and Run,” sees our heroes searching out a clone deserter to find out how to survive after the Republic’s war is over and the Empire’s has begun. Naturally, it proves difficult for all parties involved to gain their footing in a galaxy changing so quickly. There are not a lot of wink-nudge Star Wars references in this one....

Although it does seem like the trend of multiplayer-only games has died off since its resurgence in 2015 and 2016, there are still gamers who worry that, even though multiplayer-focused games now have single player campaigns, they will feel tacked on. It is this concern that Star Wars Battlefront 2 developer Motive Studios has addressed head-on in a recent interview. While speaking to PlayStation Lifestyle, Motive’s Content Producer Paola Jouyaux explains that Electronic Arts’ decision to have his studio develop the Star Wars Battlefront 2 single player speaks volumes about the publisher’s investment in the mode....

It’s been a whirlwind few months for Star Wars Battlefront 2 after its initial reveal at Star Wars Celebration and then impressing the crowd with the first ever multiplayer gameplay footage at E3 2017. Even with a few months left between fans and the game’s eventual release, EA and DICE are not going to make players wait until November to get their hands on the highly anticipated shooter. After announcing the existence of a beta test earlier this year, fans now know the exact dates as to when they’ll finally be able to jump into the boots of a Republic Clone Trooper....

EA has big sales expectations for its new shooter, Star Wars Battlefront 2, predicting that the game will ship 14 million copies around the world in just five months. But unfortunately for the publisher, early sales figures suggest that the game could miss that target. Retailers in the UK have now begun to report their sales figures for the boxed (non-digital) version of Star Wars Battlefront 2. These sales figures showed a decline of 61% compared to the boxed sales figures of Star Wars Battlefront which released in 2015....

Star Wars and action figures have gone hand in hand since the very first Kenner figures were hastily solicited in advance in the infamous “Early Bird Set” carboard box back in 1977. Thus, the notion of figures for imminently-debuting Disney+ television show The Book of Boba Fett being unveiled for releases that purportedly won’t occur until late-2022 is hardly unconventional. However, the touted figure photos do provide an intriguing glimpse at everyone’s favorite Sarlacc-surviving bounty hunter in his new, color-popping solo series duds....

It looks like Stardew Valley’s multiplayer is so close to completion that Eric Barone is willing to give an approximate date for release. In a tweet on April 10th, the developer said, “Update on Stardew Valley multiplayer: still making good progress on fixing bugs, if all goes well it should be ready in about a month.” This is the first time since the multiplayer was announced that Barone has given anything more than a vague update on the development progress of the game mode....

Fallout 76 marked a huge shift for Bethesda, a warning sign that the likes of Elder Scrolls and Fallout are far from invincible titans that couldn’t be toppled. It turns out they can, and the fall from that mountain is jagged, painful, and takes a long time to recover from. I’m still not sure the company has picked itself back up following the global burn it suffered from the half baked online experience, even if frequent updates have morphed it into a far more palatable offering....

According to a video game industry analyst, Steam is getting an official release in a new region soon. According to Daniel Ahmed of Nico Partners, Perfect World and Valve will be releasing a public beta of Steam China in the country on February 9th. This will be the first official release of the Steam platform in mainland China. Compared to the international version of Steam, Steam China will have a number of differences....

This past week, publisher XSEED Games revealed Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town’s latest release details. Nintendo Switch gamers can look forward to the game’s release on July 14. Street Fighter 5 executive producer Yoshinori Ono reveals a teaser trailer for Akuma, who will be playable in the game at the PlayStation Experience in December. Last year, fan favorite Street Fighter character Akuma was announced for Tekken 7. Crossovers between fighting games is nothing new, especially between the Street Fighter and Tekken franchises, but what made some raise their eyebrows about Akuma’s inclusion in the new Tekken was that he wasn’t going to be featured in Street Fighter V....

The latest Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League story trailer finally reveals more information about Rocksteady’s long-awaited return to the DC universe, but anyone familiar with Rocksteady’s previous Batman: Arkham games will probably walk away from that trailer with more than a few questions about exactly how Kill the Justice League‘s Deadshot fits into the Arkhamverse. There’s a lot to break down here, but the first thing you need to know is that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is set in the same universe as the Arkham games....

Superintelligence is a strange experiment of a film. Maybe that’s by design since the crux of the movie pivots on a sentient artificial intelligence studying Melissa McCarthy for three days, using her “averageness” as a barometer to determine if humanity is worth saving. But the real test of the film appears to be if you cast an entire troupe of charming actors, with McCarthy as the lead, and not include one laugh… will audiences still think they’re watching a comedy?...
