Star Wars Video Games Now Fall Under The New Lucasfilm Games Branding

Lucasfilm Games is the new branding for all Star Wars video games going forward, as well as for video games based on other Lucasfilm properties. The Star Wars video game license is currently held by EA, in a deal that’s expected to end in 2023. Many people speculated that Disney wouldn’t renew the deal, following the backlash towards Star Wars Battlefront 2’s pay-to-win mechanics at launch. Disney let EA renew the license for another few years, as Disney has no desire to enter the video game development business, and will continue to farm the license out to other studios....

Steam Machines Controller Design Finalized May Launch During Gdc 2015

One of the more intriguing things to happen in 2013 was Valve’s introduction of the Steam Machines (or Steam Box, if you prefer) and Steam OS. As many console gamers will tell you, PCs are still a little intimidating and lack the ease of use that Xboxs and PlayStations do. With Steam Machines, Valve aims to blur the lines between the two camps and bring PC gaming - and Steam’s immense library - to the living room....

Street Fighter 10 Weirdest Characters In The Series Ranked

Street Fighter is one of the most iconic video game franchises, along with Mortal Kombat and perhaps Tekken. And the series deserves its popularity. It brought innovative fighting to both arcades and home consoles. Aside from the fighting itself, Street Fighter also has some of the most popular characters in any fighting series....

Street Fighter The Strange Legacy Of Sheng Long

On June 10, 1992, Street Fighter II: The World Warrior made its home console debut on the Super Famicon in Japan, and it was a magical time for gaming. The 16-bit Street Fighter II was a major jump over its 8-bit predecessor. But cutting edge graphics weren’t all this Capcom masterpiece had to offer. Beyond its influential gameplay, what made this game the talk of the town inside arcades and at schoolyards were the many secrets waiting to be unlocked by the most skilled players....

While the TLC 3 Update is scheduled to drop on November 3rd, the Evolution Event is this week, and players can look forward to a number of general improvements....

Ted Lasso Roy And Keeley Share The Best Season 2 Scene Yet

This article contains spoilers for Ted Lasso season 2 episode 2. Ted Lasso’s Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) and Keeley Jones (Juno Temple) are a special kind of TV couple. Like other character pairings on Bill Lawrence-produced shows before them (Turk and Carla on Scrubs, Jules and Grayson on Cougar Town), Roy and Keeley reject the “will they or won’t they” sitcom binary. Instead these are two adults who share an intense emotional and physical connection and who are bound and determined to make an adult relationship work....

Tencent Patents Digital Will To Bequeath In Game Items After Death

Death is inevitable, both in-game and out. In-game, death usually doesn’t lead to the loss of all your fancy loot (unless you’re playing some sort of roguelike/roguelite), but out-of-game, death is the end. All your guns, swords, armor, and cosmetic upgrades are lost forever after your passing. Or are they? A new patent from Chinese publisher Tencent opens the door for a digital will to bequeath your in-game items to friends and loved ones after you shuffle off this mortal coil and head to the big arcade in the sky....

The 5 Best Designed Game Controllers Ever And 5 That Just Don T Make Sense

A console’s controller can either make or break the entire experience that one has when getting introduced to a new console. Some of them are great and do exactly what they need to do, and others have glaring issues that completely break immersion when diving into a new game. While there have been plenty of gimmicky peripherals for various consoles that won’t be included here, (sticking only to main console default controllers) there are more than enough controllers that just don’t quite make sense with the consoles they’ve been paired with....

The Best Evolving Games Of 2020

It’s been quite the year, with new consoles and major triple-a games to help carry people through a tumultuous time. And while it’s always nice to have big new games to enjoy, there’s something special about taking a moment to appreciate older games, especially those that get a fresh coat of paint from time to time thanks to new content updates. Mostly synonymous with live service games, the evolving game genre has earned something of a bad reputation due to how it’s monetized, which typically involves microtransactions, loot boxes, or a battle pass....

The Chop Shop Genshin Impact S Insta Switch Makes For Brilliantly Explosive Combat

Genshin Impact, like many games of its ilk, places a large emphasis on elemental combat. While it evidently features the kind of swords and sorcery you’d expect from most traditional fantasy RPGs, it’s almost Avataresque in its depiction of the elements — and not just because of how many there are, but because of how seamlessly they can be integrated with one another. Let me break down how Genshin Impact’s elemental system is structured: There are, to my knowledge, a very stupid amount of objects with which you can elementally interact....

The D D Alignments Of One Punch Man Characters

Like any Shōnen anime worth its salt, One-Punch Man’s greatest strength is its wide array of eccentric characters each with a signature approach to beating the brakes off of their opponents. The main character Saitama is anything but boring, but he also exists specifically to satirize other anime heroes. As a deliberately somewhat dull personality and design, the anime’s vibrant supporting cast spices things up along the way. One-Punch Man delivers a stable of characters with compelling personalities and motives, heroes that anyone would want in their D&D campaign....

The Day Before Has To Be More Than A Last Of Us Survival Game

The Day Before is an upcoming survival MMO, coming from the team at FNTASTIC. After the game was revealed, it drew immediate comparisons to The Last of Us due to its focus on survival in a post-pandemic America and the enemies being composed of humans and zombie-like creatures. Some visual elements of The Day Before bear similarities to The Last of Us as well. The Last of Us, as a result, seems to be a big influence on the developer, but the title will need to go beyond emulating the elements of the series to stand on its own two feet, as its own unique property....
