This Dark Tower article contains spoilers. The Dark Tower has arrived on the big screen, bringing with it one of the most extensive mythologies in all of literature. Since 1978, King has been creating a web of connections between many of his most famous novels, such as ‘Salem’s Lot and The Stand, and it all leads back to the Tower, the most important structure in all of the Kingverse. Director Nikolaj Arcel’s film adaptation contains so many references and easter eggs to the books and movies that I’ve decided to dissect The Dark Tower for all of its secrets....

Magnus Bruun just can’t stay away from the Viking Age. The Last Kingdom actor recently announced he will be playing Male Eivor in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Bruun’s announcement came on Twitter just after Ubisoft released a trailer and release window for the upcoming game. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is getting a lot of hype and updates right now, and players are excited for how the franchise will follow up its most recent game, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey....

It’s no secret that Marvel’s Avengers has had a rough go at it. One of the big next-generation launch titles releasing this holiday season is Bloober Team’s The Medium for PC and Xbox Series X. A psychological horror title, The Medium will be one of Microsoft’s first Xbox Series X exclusive titles and is intended to take advantage of the Xbox Series X’s unique abilities, including rendering two game worlds simultaneously thanks to the console’s built-in SSD. Now, Bloober Team has announced that it has brought on famed voice actor Troy Baker to voice the game’s villain, a gruesome monster known as ‘The Maw....

Get this: a new series based on an existing film franchise is hitting a streaming service this month. Shocking, right? With the streaming wars in full effect and beloved, existing intellectual property coveted by media conglomerates more than ever, it’s safe to assume that reboots, reimaginings, and retreads will be hitting Netflix, HBO Max, and Disney+ until the end of time. Everything old is new again. And again. And again. And again....

When Marvel brought us the Spider-Verse comic event several years ago, it was like a great reunion for all the different variations of Spider-Man we’ve seen through the years. Spider-Men from What If…?, Spider-Man from the Japanese TV show, Spider-Man from the year 2099, Spider-Man from the goofy newspaper comic strips, and so on. Among all the webslingers, there was one spikey-headed rebel who stood out as a fresh-faced hero of the multiverse....

Netflix’s pleasant surprise, The Old Guard, seems to be making strides in more ways than just its viewership numbers. Alongside the film’s praise from critics and audiences alike, it is also notable for sporting a post-production crew comprised of 85% women. The Old Guard, based on the comic of the same name, features Charlize Theron and KiKi Layne co-starring as part of a group of immortal mercenaries. Theron’s character, Andy, is the seasoned veteran opposite Layne who plays Nile, the newcomer to the group....

Stadia this week announced ten new games coming soon to its growing catalog. The titles are part of the Stadia makers program, created in a partnership with Unity to help support indie developers. Titles on the list come from Akupara Games, Broken Arms Games, Merge Games, and Bedtime Digital Games, among others. The first of the new titles making its way to Stadia is The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark on April 15....

Ubisoft reveals a trailer for virtual reality title Star Trek: Bridge Crew, with the VR project’s debut featuring a number of Star Trek alumni from across generations. If there’s one thing that can be said about virtual reality, it’s that it gives perhaps the highest potential in video games for users to experience new worlds in an immersive manner. With that in mind, Ubisoft was more than willing to officially unveil Star Trek: Bridge Crew during its E3 2016 presentation....

A world without a Star Trek TV show regularly airing new episodes is a slightly darker world. Thankfully, we are now back in a slightly lighter timeline: Star Trek: Discovery is back! For those who were frustrated with the action-oriented frenzy of the first season, Star Trek: Discovery season 2 is not going to totally assuage those frustrations. There is a commitment to the wonder of scientific exploration in certain parts of this season premiere–most notably, in the delightful introduction of Tig Notaro’s Engineer Denise Reno–but this first episode is weighed down (with little pay off thus far) by the angsty mystery of Michael’s mysterious, absent brother....

METI (Messaging Extraterrestrial Intelligence) announced Star Trek: Discovery’s Anson Mount has joined its board of directors. As its name indicates, the non-profit research organization is dedicated to making the first contact with extraterrestrial civilizations. The original Star Trek series followed the voyages of Captain James T. Kirk and the crew of the starship USS Enterprise as they embarked on a five-year mission to explore “strange new worlds.” In joining METI, who portrays Captain Christopher Pike in CBS All Access’ Star Trek: Discovery, Mount appears to be intent on living up to the franchise’s concept of seeking out “new life and new civilizations” in real life....
