The Dragon Age series contains a multitude of decisions (and subsequent consequences) for its players to explore. And while some Dragon Age choices are based purely on player opinion, others consist of actual good and bad choices that the player character can make. That said, there are a fair number of unpopular choices available in all three games, let alone just one, ranging from “painfully pragmatic” to “just plain evil.” Right now, however, it’s looking like one of the most “just plain evil” decisions from Dragon Age 2 could very well come back to haunt players who decided to go for a more sinister sort of playthrough....

So, when the USS Discovery jumped from 2258 to 3188, suddenly, Dr. Culber was given two jobs instead of one. There’s no shortage of zombie survival games in which you have to scavenge, build shelter, and survive against hordes of the undead. Thankfully, game developer G1 Playground and publisher Super.com are here to fill that void with Zelter - a post-zombie-apocalypse crafting and survival sim that will hit Steam Early Access on October 22, 2020. Zelter takes a rather cute, pixelated approach to the zombie apocalypse, featuring an in-game crafting and management system that will keep you busy for hours....

It’s refreshing to encounter a game that isn’t afraid to be completely honest about its content. Right down to its title, Don’t Starve revels in its masochistic nature and doesn’t hide the fact that death is almost always around the corner. Up until now the experience has been a largely singular one, with players finding themselves dropped into a randomly-generated landscape, asked with nothing more than surviving. All that is about to change though with the coming of a new expansion....

As a loving tribute to a bygone era, Streets of Rage 4 is a pretty great game. Made by a group of clearly passionate fans, the teams over at DotEmu, LizardCube, and Guard Crush went all out in creating the ultimate retro brawler game. Maybe it doesn’t redefine the genre, but this is an absolute must-play for any fans of Sega’s original series. Naughty Dog is pretty generous when it comes to referencing its other franchises in-game. The Last of Us has multiple Easter eggs for Jak and Daxter and the Uncharted series, but there’s one hidden gem from the latter that has previously gone unnoticed. Thanks to former Naughty Dog developer Rodney Reece, we were introduced to an Uncharted Easter egg that lay within the Beach map from The Last of Us’ Factions....

Take the heart-racing, claustrophobic intensity of John Carpenter’s The Thing and replace the body-morphing parasite with dinosaurs. That is the premise indie Dinohazard presents as you try to escape a sub-zero research facility. The creepy adventure is available now via Itch.io. On paper, Dinosaurs don’t seem as terrifying as a mutating symbiote keen to devour your pets as much as your colleagues. However, it appears the reptiles in Dinohazard are just as unforgiving....

Our quick take We’ve been living with the SwiftKey Note app for a week using it as our main note-taking app on the iPad mini and the iPhone 5S. Unfortunately, the benefits of the app don’t run across the entire device and that means when you start jabbing the keyboard in the same sloppy way in other apps, you won’t get the useful results that SwiftKey Note offers. Maybe that will force you to think about moving to Android, or just wishing that Apple would relax its rules on third-party keyboards....

Tabletop gaming supply company Tabletop Loot just launched a Kickstarter adventure for its Astral Anomalies - Sharp Edged Handmade RPG Dice, and no surprise, was fully funded within three hours. As of this writing, the project has about $20,000 pledged towards its $18,500 goal with a full 29 days left remaining. The Astral Anomalies Kickstarter project currently has 14 pledge support tiers available, with pledges ranging from $10 up to $5,000....

Though 2013 hasn’t even begun, BioShock Infinite’s Collector’s Edition, appropriately named the Ultimate Songbird Edition, has already set the bar really high for competitors. The Limited Edition, which was announced last month, is a collector’s dream, and features more trinkets and baubles than few games can ever hope to deliver in one package. There is, however, one core element to the Ultimate Songbird Edition — the Pièce de résistance, if you will — that has helped make this one of next year’s most sought after Collector’s Editions....

It’s been a while since the name Team Meat was mentioned. The developer, a team-up between Tommy Refenes and Edmund McMillen, is known for its fiendishly difficult platformer Super Meat Boy. Although McMillen and Refenes have gone on to work on other titles - with McMillen’s The Binding of Isaac a major feather in his cap - Team Meat itself left us with a breadcrumb trail of vaporware and canceled projects....

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot movie has experienced a bit of butchery when it comes to its creative coalition, figuratively, anyway. Studio Legendary has dropped its appointed directorial duo of Ryan and Andy Tohill and will essentially scrap what’s been shot during their tenure with the project. Legendary’s planned reboot of the frequently-rebooted bellwether horror film franchise was one week into production in Bulgaria when creative differences between the Tohills and the studio came to the colossal crescendo of the studio pulling the proverbial plug and parting ways with the directors, according to Deadline....

Aside from perhaps Rareware, Konami is the developer gamers typically point to when it comes to epic falls from grace. While the company does still crank out some decent software, it’s been a far cry from their glory days of hits like Contra and Castlevania. This stigma of decline seems to have only been further cemented following the departure of Konami’s own personal “Miyamoto,” Hideo Kojima, in late 2015. Indeed, the Japanese developer was once known for a slew of iconic classics that could stand with the best of the Nintendo, Sega, or Sony titles of old....

The Addams Family 2 is officially set to bring its wholesomely horrifying brand of animated dread back to the big screen for the 2021 Halloween season. The sequel, arriving via MGM’s United Artists banner, follows up the 2019 sleeper animated iteration of the often-adapted iconic 1960s spooky snap-happy sitcom, which went on to gross $203 million worldwide against a $24 million budget. Indeed, The Addams Family 2 was reportedly in the works less than a week after the first film’s October 11, 2019 bow, and signaled an October release date of its own for 2021....

While The Batman largely avoids the gimmicks of modern interconnected superhero universes on the big screen, even this noir film can’t help but pack in tons of easter eggs and at least one cameo into its almost three-hour runtime. But don’t expect Superman or Wonder Woman to show up to help Robert Pattinson save the day here....

From the creative mind of Edmund McMillen came a dungeon crawler inspired by The Legend of Zelda, loaded with religious, astrological, pop culture, and toilet humor references. The Binding of Isaac was released in 2011 and has undergone a complete re-release since, along with four expansions. The latest of them, Repentance, was released at the end of March of 2021 and has received many updates. Each playthrough is a new experience, with every room and floor being randomly generated....
