As if the giant E3 2017 posters in downtown Los Angeles weren’t indication enough, Star Wars Battlefront 2 is going to be featured in a huge way during Electronic Arts’ press conference at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. As a matter of fact, the video game publishing titan has now revealed by way of a new blog post that it will host a gameplay livestream reveal on June 10, 2017 at 12:30 PM PT to show off a 40-player battle called the Assault on Theed....

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the action-adventure title from Respawn Entertainment and EA, launched in November 2019. Set five years after the fall of the Galactic Republic, the story follows a young Padawan as he attempts to avoid the Empire’s hunters. The Fallen Order subtitle refers to the Jedi themselves, who are now wanted criminals following Order 66. Jedi: Fallen Order was a success, having the fastest-selling digital launch of any Star Wars game....

With most releases, it is expected for developers to provide gamers with a slew of post-launch content, in the form of DLCs, expansion packs, and general updates. However, it appears as if Star Wars: Squadrons won’t be yielding to market demands, and will indefinitely stand as a ‘what you see is what you get’ title. Speaking to UploadVR, Star Wars: Squadrons creative director Ian Frazier confirmed that EA has no plans to provide further content within the space combat game, designed to remain a “self-contained” title....

In 2020, Tencent, based in Shenzhen, China, managed to secure more mergers and acquisitions in the games industry than any other company, according to a report by Niko Partners. The company invested in 31 deals, three times more than in 2019. Tencent, the world’s largest video game vendor, has stakes in over 600 companies, including social networks, music companies, web portals, e-commerce sites, mobile game developers and publishers, internet service providers, payment system developers, smartphone manufacturers, and multiplayer online game developers....

The Elder Scrolls 6 is making some big changes to the world of Nirn. For a third time this week, Ubisoft brings The Division servers down for maintenance in order to fix a couple of nagging issues that appeared after update 1.2 released. A drama about resistance and endurance has become a drama about recovery and survivorhood, and those new themes are being treated with characteristic complexity. Over the years, this show could be accused of lacking forward momentum, but never of oversimplifying the messiness of its characters’ emotions....

The approach on violence, which almost revels in the carnage, in The Last of Us Part 2 has been a bit of a sticking point for some fans, with some pointing out that the game can get carried away and miss the mark on its messages of revenge and consequences. However, critiques aside, when looking at the fighting itself, from combat techniques to characters’ preferred tools, it is clear that some of the smaller details really bring the protagonists to life....

3D Character Artist/ Digital Sculptor Ian Robinson posted an image on ArtStation of a 6-inch tall sculpture he made depicting The Mandalorian’s Baby Yoda as a dark lord of the Sith. Titled “Darth Grogu,” Robinson’s sculpture is based on the original fan art by lead concept artist at Gearbox Software, Max Davenport. It’s difficult to imagine such a dark turn for the adorable, tea-sipping, Baby Jedi, but little Grogu has seen his fair share of death and destruction....

Yoshinori Ono left Capcom back in August of 2020 after 30 years with the company. Starting off in 1998 as the sound manager for Street Fighter Alpha 3, Yoshinori eventually made his way to Executive Producer of Street Fighter V, working on such legendary franchises as Devil May Cry, Mega Man, and Breath of Fire on his journey. Announcing his retirement with his characteristic openness and cheerful disposition (as well as a Shoryuken), Yoshinori bid farewell to the fighting game community that had come to cherish his antics and his habit of bringing a Blanka action figure named Jimmy with him wherever he went....
