When it comes to Star Wars, there are plenty of noteworthy characters that have become fan favorites for many people. For the original trilogy, that could be Luke Skywalker or Han Solo. For fans of the Clone Wars, they might love Obi-Wan Kenobi or Mace Windu. However, deep in the lore of Legends continuity, there are plenty of characters that new fans might not know about. Characters like Starkiller or Darth Revan.

As such, here are the ten facts about Revan that everyone should know about.

10 In The Lore, Revan’s Real Name Is Unknown

Although the character is known as Revan for pretty much all of his appearances, the title of Revan is actually his name. Or at least fans are unsure as it seems to be a debate as to whether or not that is his name. Regardless, Revan didn’t take up the title until his time during the Mandalorian Wars.

Perhaps as a way of being recognizable, Revan’s title eventually became synonymous for centuries within the Star Wars lore. Of course, in reality, it is very possible that Bioware simply made it a title so that the player can put their character name into the game without spoiling the eventual twists that happened.

9 He Rebelled Against The Jedi Order To Fight The Mandalorians

As shown during the prequel series of Star Wars films, the Jedi order was a group of individuals who liked to play far more neutral compared to the stalwart Jedi shown in Luke Skywalker’s order. This had resulted in Revan to be far more different Jedi compared to his contemporaries.

Although it was through the result of a mind-wipe, by the time he regained his memories back, he still stayed within the light.

7 One Of The Few Characters To Balance The Light And Dark Sides Of The Force

As a result of his time as both a Jedi and a Sith, Revan was able to combine what he learned into a true balance of the force. This has allowed him to become one of the most powerful characters to ever live during his era. Not only that, but he is able to switch between the two as easily as breathing. This allowed him to be similar to other acolytes of the practice such as Starkiller and Kyle Katarn. The protagonists of Force Unleashed and the Dark Forces games respectively.

6 He Was Gonna Appear In The Clone Wars

An interesting piece of trivia for the canonical Star Wars timeline was that the character of Revan was going to appear briefly in the episode Ghosts Of Mortis. Kind of adapting to a certain fighting style as the fight proceeds.

4 Above His Abilities, He Is a Master Tactician

Although his skills as a warrior were praised by many around him. His real power has nothing to do with his abilities as a Jedi or Sith. 3 He Is One Of The Few Jedi To Marry Before Luke’s Order

For those that are unfamiliar with Star Wars lore, Jedi’s are known to not be able to hold attachments to those they care about. This is to prevent them from ever getting closer to the dark side. Although many Jedi began affairs similar to Anakin Skywalker, none really went on to marry. Revan is one of the few exceptions as he went on to marry and have a child with his lover Bastila Shan.

2 Revan Is The Player Character Of Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic

Although it is common knowledge now, the role of Revan was originally used as a plot twist for the player character. Due to the robes that Revan wore, they were able to remain gender-neutral. Thus allowing the character to be whoever the player wants them to be. All of this only helped to make the moment more pivotal.

Not only that, but during the events of Knights Of The Old Republic 2, many things about Revan were left to be more interpretive than anything. This all changed with the Old Republic MMO where the character had been firmly established as a male character and having his own motivations.
