While Star Wars Battlefront was a solid first entry in the long-running series for DICE, the experience wasn’t perfect. With Star Wars Battlefront 2, EA and DICE appear to have taken many criticisms of the first game to heart by making sure to include a number of new features like a dedicated single-player campaign, more game modes and maps, as well as content from all three Star Wars eras. Although the game is still seventeen days away from store shelves, EA has released the official launch trailer for Star Wars Battlefront 2.

The short trailer places its focus squarely on the multiplayer side of Star Wars Battlefront 2, giving fans a brief look at numerous new locations within the game. The action kicks off on the planet Jakku, as First Order troopers square off against Rey and the Resistance before quickly shifting gears to the ice planet Hoth, complete with AT-AT walkers and tauntauns. Further reinforcing the point that the game has plenty of content from all three eras are the next few maps shown, pulled from the rebel base on Yavin-4, Starkiller Base, and the lush forests of Kashykk.

Unfortunately, the trailer doesn’t go as far as showing off any new heroes in action, though Star Wars fans may enjoy seeing gameplay of Darth Vader duelling Luke Skywalker and Yoda fighting Darth Maul. Boba Fett, Chewbacca, Kylo Ren, and Rey also make brief cameos as well as newcomer Iden Versio at the very end. Thanks to a leak earlier this summer, fans got an early look at some recently revealed heroes like Bossk, Lando Calrissian, and Emperor Palpatine, with more likely on the way.

While fans praised the game during its beta tests, the one controversial aspect that arose was with its loot box system. Though the practice has recently come under fire as more and more games shoehorn them in, EA got out ahead of the controversy by issuing a statement regarding game balance after the beta concluded. Part of the recently revealed changes include outright removing Epic Star Cards from all loot crates, locking top weapons behind milestones, and limiting the ability to craft higher level star cards through playing the game. These systems are designed to prevent players from simply buying a bunch of loot crates and farming materials to quickly obtain the best cards.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 releases on November 17, 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
