Shortly after Star Wars Battlefront 2’s launch back in November of last year, fans’ displeasure over the way in which the science fiction shooter implemented loot boxes in the game caused a massive backlash within the title’s community and brought anger to gaming fans around the globe. Following this, Electronic Arts attempted to mitigate the controversy by hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) thread on Reddit, with an “EACommunityTeam” account response relating to loot boxes eventually becoming the most downvoted comment of all time on the site.

Recently, the modder known as “Dareedevokl” decided to immortalize the comment in Star Wars Battlefront 2 by creating a mod that takes the severely hated phrase shared by Electronic Arts and plasters it across every single loot box within the game. Dubbed the “Pride and Accomplishment” mod, Dareedevokl turns EA’s statement of “The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different heroes” into the official slogan for the title’s loot boxes.

As seen in the image above, the Star Wars Battlefront 2 mod from Dareedevokl is really as simple as it sounds, as it basically just replaces the textures of the game’s various loot boxes with one that has a starry background along with the words “pride and accomplishment”. What’s more is that the creator even made sure to use the Star Wars font and styling to make it that much more legitimate.

While there are definitely a lot of fun and inventive mods for Star Wars Battlefront 2 – the Buzz Lightyear mod is definitely a blast – Dareedevokl’s creation is sure to be something that practically all fans of the science fiction franchise will rally around and will potentially add to the game to remind themselves of EA’s overreach with microtransactions. If anything, perhaps it will simply serve as an artifact of how unpopular and insidious such pay-to-win strategies can be.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
