We are now exactly two months away from the Star Wars Battlefront release, and it’s safe to say excitement is high among fans of the franchise. Even despite gamer disappointment over a couple features, including the lack of iron sights and only two-man pairs instead of squads, gamers are looking forward to picking up their blasters and going to battle.
But before the release date, gamers will have an opportunity to participate in the Star Wars Battlefront beta, which Electronic Arts announced a couple weeks ago. However, at the time, the studio was mum on the details of the beta, including who would be able to participate.
Fortunately, EA community manager, Mathew Everett – known also as Sledgehammer70 – took to the game’s news page to announce the Star Wars Battlefront beta will be open to anyone who wants to participate:
It’s not surprising that EA is opening up the Star Wars Battlefront beta to anyone who’s interested, since they did the same thing with the last few Battlefield games. And considering the popularity of the Star Wars Battlefront franchise, letting gamers get a taste of the game will likely drive more sales when the game releases in November. Plus, it will give EA a chance to make any needed adjustments and fix any bugs in an effort to avoid problems at launch.
“Now that we have officially announced the beta, most of you are just itching to know how you can get in. Well, we’re excited to say that the beta is open to everyone! Get ready for the beta release date and also make sure your system is ready to download the beta the moment it goes live.”
In his post, Everett also revealed that the folks at EA will be participating in the beta alongside players, and have some fun things in store:
Everett didn’t provide any details about what the cool stuff is, but it’s likely he and the other developers will be providing some goodies to players while they test the game. This may come in the form of unique weapons, Star Cards, or opportunities to try out unique hero characters. Of course, this is all speculation, and the cool stuff Everett and his team have planned could be something completely different. It will be interesting to see what they’ve come up with.
“Keep your eyes peeled for myself and many other developers during the live beta as we have some cool stuff planned.”
Those who participate in the beta will have access to both the online and offline modes, and will be able to play co-op and split-screen co-op during the beta. While no date has yet been announced, chances are the beta isn’t far away, considering the game’s release date is fast approaching. Finally, Everett revealed that players will be able to play at least two of the game modes during beta: Walker Assault on Hoth, and Drop Zone on Sullust. Chances are EA will offer additional modes during the beta along with these two.
