Gamers and game developers are gearing up for a packed holiday season, with many titles set to compete for gamers’ attention and money. One of those games is Star Wars Battlefront, which made a huge splash at this year’s E3 conference with some exciting gameplay and announcements.

Naturally, gamers have been clamoring for additional details about Star Wars Battlefront and continue to spam EA, DICE, PlayStation, and Xbox executives with questions and requests on social media. One gaming executive, Xbox boss Phil Spencer, responded to a gamer’s question and confirmed on Twitter that Star Wars Battlefront will be available first on Xbox One, but only for those with EA Access.

For those unaware, EA launched their EA Access subscription service on Xbox One last August, granting gamers access to select EA games on the Xbox console. As long as gamers maintain their subscription (available via a one-month or one-year increments), gamers have access to the vault of games.

Most of the games available to EA Access members are over a year old, meaning they’ve all but run their course through traditional sales. In addition to access to older games, the service gives gamers a chance to play new EA gamers before anyone else, as well as a 10 percent discount on all EA digital purchases on Xbox One, including full games.

Although Spencer didn’t mention it in his tweet, EA Access members will gain access to Star Wars Battlefront a full five days before it releases for everyone else. For some gamers, a few days may not make much difference, but for others every minute counts, especially massive Star Wars and Battlefront fans.

EA has been able to garner attention for EA Access over the last few months by offering members early access to Battlefield Hardline and the newly released Rory Mcllroy’s PGA Tour game. However, neither of those titles have had the hype and influence that Star Wars Battlefront has built up, meaning the upcoming galactic shooter may help EA greatly increase the number of Access subscribers. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the gaming giant offer Xbox One owners a discount on the year-long subscription prior to the game’s release, in an effort to continue building a strong EA Access member base.

Since EA Access is only available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 gamers will not receive early access to Star Wars Battlefront.

What do you think about EA Access members on Xbox One gaining early access to Star Wars Battlefront? Will that motivate you to become an EA Access member? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Star Wars Battlefront is set to release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 17, 2015.
