The patch notes for the latest update to DICE’s and Electronic Arts’ science fiction shooter Star Wars Battlefront detail the Death Star DLC, a level cap increase, and more.
Now that Star Wars Battlefront’s Death Star DLC release date has finally arrived, die-hard fans of the franchise are surely eager to absorb every single detail about the game’s latest paid expansion before downloading it. Thankfully, the developers at DICE and Electronic Arts have provided gamers with the full set of patch notes for the most recent update, and not only does it bring about the add-on featuring the aforementioned DS-1 Orbital Battle Station, but also Star Wars Battlefront players who don’t purchase the DLC will experience several alterations to the overall game as well.
For starters, those who do buy the Death Star set will get five brand new maps, as well as new weapons, star cards, and the new mode called Battle Station. According to its description, the mode will be “three-phased” as Rebels try to blow up an Imperial Star Destroyer so as to make way for a GR-75 — that is, the Rebel’s military version of a civilian transport. After that, it’s up to the good guys to infiltrate the Death Star to rescue R2-D2 before Luke Skywalker successfully finishes the famous trench run that completely obliterates the Empire’s station.
Plus, Star Wars Battlefront’s latest heroes to join into the fray will be Chewbacca and Bossk. Both of the characters will have their own special abilities, with one of the Wookie’s being a roar that buffs up the potency of his nearby teammates, while one of the bounty hunter’s is the utilization of a Yautja-like thermal scan to locate all of the enemies in the area by way of their heat signatures. Plus, Chewie’s trait is called Furious Firing, as it increases the amount of bolts fired from his Bowcaster, and Bossk’s trait is dubbed Trandoshan Regeneration, letting him regain lost health when killing enemy soldiers or doing high damage to heroes.
Beyond the actual contents of Star Wars Battlefront’s Death Star DLC, though, there are going to be plenty of bug fixes, as well as the increase of the game’s level cap to 90. Not to mention, six new Hutt Contracts have been added to the title, and all traits have been updated, with most levels receiving new abilities. Those interested in getting all of the details from the latest update can find the full patch notes right here.
Once Star Wars Battlefront players get their fix of the Death Star DLC and the latest update, DICE and Electronic Arts plan on putting out one final purchasable expansion called Rogue One: Scarif that’s inspired by the upcoming film starring Felicity Jones and Ben Mendelsohn. The add-on will not only include their characters of Jyn Erso and Director Orson Krennic, but also it will be set on the tropical planet of Scarif.
Many fans would contest that the release of Star Wars Battlefront’s Death Star DLC is arguably one of the most exciting pieces of post-launch content for the title, if only for its making up for the lack of space battles in the base game. However, taking into account the fact that developers have waited nearly a year to incorporate the feature, as Star Wars Battlefront launched in November 0f 2015, some players consider it to be too little, too late. With that being the case, one can only hope for a more sumptuous offering of all that the science fiction franchise has to offer with the game’s sequel for 2017.
Star Wars Battlefront is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
