Today, during the second day of Star Wars Celebration weekend, the video game developer Respawn Entertainment held a live streamed panel which served as a means to officially reveal Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order with a story trailer, and confirm the title’s main character, Cal Kestis. During the course of the panel, the studio also confirmed that the game’s protagonist is to be played by actor Cameron Monaghan (Gotham, Shameless).

The confirmation of Monaghan portraying Kestis may not come as a surprise to some, as a Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order leak from not too long ago surfaced and revealed that the actor would indeed be taking on the role of the main character in the game. Monaghan will likely be recognized by many for starring as the character Ian Gallagher in the TV series Shameless, and as Jerome and Jeremiah Valeska, a version of DC’s iconic villain, the Joker, in the Batman prequel television series Gotham.

As far as Monaghan’s role as Kestis is concerned, the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order protagonist is a Padawan hiding in Mid Rim, and he is attempting to overcome the tragic events of his past while also fighting for his life. In the game’s story, Kestis is relying on three rules of survival, which are to not stand out, to accept the past, and to trust no one, as the Empire and its Inquisitors have been empowered by Order 66 to wipe out the Jedi.

Speaking of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s plot, it seems as if the game is going to be very story-focused and will be centered primarily around a single-player experience. As it so happens, Respawn CEO Vince Zampella recently revealed that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will have no multiplayer, further accentuating its emphasis on being a game that’s to be played solo.

All things considered, with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order being a single-player, story-driven game, it will be interesting to see how large the cast is and the other actors that will show up as supporting players alongside Monaghan as Kestis. There’s a good chance we will learn more on in these areas, and perhaps even see some gameplay come EA Play 2019 later this year.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is scheduled to release on November 15, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
