The Force is strong with Disney+ as a new series, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, is arriving on the streaming platform in 2021. Dave Filoni, of The Clone Wars and The Mandolorian fame, will be returning as an Executive Producer for the project.
The Bad Batch follows the experimental clones from the last season of The Clone Wars in the post-war era. This strong force of soldiers will be taking on mercenary missions as they try to find their place in a galaxy far, far, away. Each of them has a unique ability that grew from their experimental genetics, making The Bad Batch far different from any ordinary Clone Army soldier.
“While The Clone Wars may have come to its conclusion, our partnership with the groundbreaking storytellers and artists at Lucasfilm Animation is only beginning,” said Agnes Chu, Senior Vice President of Content at Disney+, “We are thrilled to bring Dave Filoni’s vision to life through the next adventures of The Bad Batch.”

When Disney acquired LucasFilm for $4 billion in 2012, production stopped on the acclaimed Star Wars: The Clone Wars series, with the animation team moved on to Star Wars Rebels. Fans demanded a continuation of the once Cartoon Network-exclusive show, and Disney finally answered the call with the final season of The Clone Wars. It was released for Disney+, the House of Mouse’s big streaming service.
While the recent mainline films from Disney have been controversial among Star Wars fans, The Mandolarian was received fairly well. With no confirmed films on the horizon, perhaps Disney’s new direction for Star Wars includes introducing more long-form stories to the universe through television. Is this a disturbance in The Force, though?
Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order also impressed fans with deep gameplay systems, an interesting story, and high production quality graphics. As said in TheGamer’s review of the game, “The locations, characters, music, plot, sound effects, and dialogue all hit the mark for what fans know and love.” Hopefully, a successful release of the competitive space combat title Star Wars: Squadrons will keep that momentum going when it releases on October 2nd.
