Luck is your best friend in Stardew Valley. Unlike other skills in the game, like mining or foraging, luck does not level up. However, if you have been playing the game for a while, you probably already know about the fortune teller TV program. You always want to check this first thing in the morning, since it lets you know how lucky you’ll get.
You should plan your days depending on how fortunate or not you might be. Some activities can produce better results if your luck is particularly high, so plan ahead if you are trying to be efficient.
10 Chop Wood
It seems like a waste of time to chop wood on lucky days, especially if you have already built the various structures you need for your farm. However, if you are just starting out, you will need to save tons of wood to purchase some invaluable buildings from Robin.
Luck affects wood’s drop rate from trees. The luckier you are, the more wood you will find. Nonetheless, do not spend the entire day chopping down trees. Luck influences more significant aspects of the game, so make sure you also engage in other worthwhile activities.
9 Panning Becomes Almost Worth It
Panning is one of those activities you almost never bother with, since the rewards you get from it are rather mundane. Moreover, it takes some time to find a panning spot, so you might as well go mine instead.
However, panning is significantly improved during lucky days. Your chances to find more valuable ores is increased, you might even get Iridium. It’s a good idea to bring your copper pan if you plan to do some fishing in the rivers, that way you are not just spending your time panning.
8 Go Fishing
The museum collection is quite extensive, and rewards you with a Stardrop once you complete it. This task is a game-long endeavor you are not going to complete in just a couple of days — keep your eyes peeled for geodes whenever you go mining to make your life easier.
On lucky days, your chances to find a treasure while fishing increase. Furthermore, your chances to find special Artifacts also increase. This is the perfect time to look for some new additions for the museum. Bring a treasure hunter fishing tackle for maximum effect.
7 Not All Waste Is Trash
Taking a trip to Pelican Town is almost always part of your daily routine in Stardew Valley. Whether you are going to Pierre’s store, the beach, or to speak to your favorite NPC, you should always check garbage cans whenever possible.
On lucky days, the chances to find items increases when you dig in the trash. You are also more likely to find something that isn’t trash. You can always keep a pair of broken glasses to make refined quartz with a recycling machine, but you might be fortunate enough to find a gemstone or an artifact.
6 Craft Some Lightning Rods
Thunderstorms are a pretty rare occurrence. They prominently take place during summer, when you should think about getting yourself some valuable batteries, used to craft the even more valuable Iridium sprinkler.
Having a wide system of sprinklers is key to automating your farm. This lets you have more time to engage in other activities. Luck affects the possibility that a lightning might hit a rod, thus producing a battery the next day. If you are starting out in a new playthrough, you should craft and position as many rods as you can whenever a thunderstorm approaches.
5 Visit The Casino
It would be great if you could convert your Qi coins for actual money in the desert Casino. Unfortunately, that is not possible, perhaps to prevent the onset of a gambling addiction. Jokes aside, you should only play in the Casino specifically on days when you are most lucky.
There are a couple of cool looking prizes you can trade your coins for, but you should definitely get the alien Rarecrow to unlock the Deluxe Scarecrow, the best guardian for your crops. Furthermore, you can also exchange coins for a Farm Warp Totem, a handy magic item that can save your life in the Skull Cavern.
4 Check Your Rabbits And Ducks
The duck feather and rabbit’s foot are among the rarest animal products you can find. Luck increases your chances to find one of these valuable items. You can max out your friendship with both of these animals, and still won’t obtain their respective drops. Naturally, tending to your barn friends should always be an essential part of your daily chores.
Both the rabbit’s foot and duck feather are valuable items you should hold on to, since they make for great products to display at the fair during fall. Furthermore, a rabbit’s foot prevents the negative outcome during the cutscene that takes place if you date all the bachelors or bachelorettes in the town.
3 Harvest Specific Crops
The best crops in Stardew Valley tend to be the ones that require the least maintenance. Crops that continue to produce after they are harvested can save you plenty of time, money, and effort. Cranberries, for example, also have a chance to drop multiple crops when harvested, in addition to requiring planting only once.
Luck affects how many cranberries drop when the plant is ready to be reaped. Since lucky days are rather uncommon, make sure you always plant something that keeps growing since the very start of a given season. Some of the crops you should consider include coffee beans, strawberries, blueberries, and cranberries.
2 Mining Time
Visiting the mines next to the Adventurer’s Guild is one of the most important activities to do during lucky days. The mines provide you with invaluable resources you absolutely need in the early-game. Copper, iron, and gold are easily accessible here, and you’ll need plenty of them to craft ingots.
Furthermore, you also needs lots of coal. Luck directly influences how much coal you can find while digging rocks. If you find yourself in need for fuel, it’s also a good idea to pay a trip to the quarry, where rocks abound. Just make sure you bring a good weapon to defend yourself.
1 Raid The Skull Cavern
The single, must-do, task you should consider is visiting the Skull Caver, especially if your TV shows this message in the morning: “The spirits are very happy today! They will do their best to shower everyone with good fortune.” If you read this, forget about everything else, and go meet Pam at the bus stop.
Going to the Skull Cavern on a lucky day can result in walking away with some incredibly valuable loot, like Iridium ores and Prismatic Shards. If you are struggling to reach Qi at level 100, luck can help you even more, as it affects the chance that ladders will spawn while digging.
