Stardew Valley has gone through many updates over the years in order to keep things fresh for veteran players. Recently version 1.5 brought a huge amount of new content for the game, including a new area and a beach farm to start out on. Of course, a new update wouldn’t be complete without adding in new crops and trees for the player to grow on their farm.

There are eight new types of crops and trees that can be found in the game. These can be used to find new ways to make money or in new recipes that will be earned by indulging in the game’s newest content.

8 Mahogany Tree

The mahogany tree is the tree that players have long dreamed of. This is because the mahogany tree, when cut down, will give the player ten hardwood, which was once an aggravating and rare resource to collect. Now players are able to plant a seed and have a hardwood farm growing at all times. The tree can be fertilized for a 60% chance of quicker growth, and mahogany seeds can be found in several locations around the map. Some of the best places to look for mahogany seeds are from cutting hardwood stumps and killing slimes located in the secret woods.

7 Fiber Seeds

On the less exciting but still important side of things, the game now allows the player to plant fiber seeds. In order to gain access to the seeds, players must finish the community clean-up request when it pops up on the special order board. Afterward, Linus will send the recipe for the seeds in the mail on the next day. Players will need to craft the seeds from mixed seeds, five sap, and one piece of clay. The seeds, unlike most, can be planted during any season and will not need to be watered by the player. The seeds only take seven days to grow and will produce four fiber apiece.

6 Ginger

Ginger is a crop that is currently only available for the player to forage. Ginger can be found on Ginger Island, where players will have to harvest it using a hoe. The crop is part of a special order and is used in two different recipes that can be acquired from the dwarf located in the volcano dungeon.

Ginger only sells for 60 gold and isn’t great for consumption. Ingesting a piece of ginger gives the player 25 energy and 11 health. In addition to being found by foraging, ginger is also a drop of the new tiger slime enemy.

5 Banana

The banana was one of the trees originally teased before version 1.5 was released on PC. The tree is only available for sale through the island trader and will cost the player a total of five dragon teeth. The tree yields fruit year-round, when grown on Ginger Island or in the summer, is planted in the valley. The tree will take 28 days to grow and is used in both the banana pudding recipe, as well as, the island totem recipe. The sell rate of a banana can range between 150 gold for normal quality to 330 gold for iridium quality.

4 Mango

The mango is the third tree and has many similarities to the banana tree. The tree will take 28 days to grow and only bears fruit in summer in the valley. When grown on Ginger Island, it will have fruit year-round. The mango sapling can be acquired from the island trader in exchange for 75 mussels.

The crop is used in the recipe mango sticky rice, which can be obtained from Leo. At normal quality, the crop can sell for 130 gold, and the iridium quality for mango can be sold for up to 286 gold.

3 Pineapple

The pineapple is a new crop that is able to produce fruit indefinitely off of a single seed, making it perfect for growing in the greenhouse or on Ginger Island. A pineapple seed can be acquired from the island trader in exchange or for players who want to take an easier route, created from placing a pineapple in the seed maker. The crop will produce fruit in summer in the valley and takes fourteen days to fully grow. After it’s grown, the plant will produce a new pineapple every seven days. The crop is used to make pineapple curry and can sell for as low as 300 gold. For players who spend time tending to their crops through an iridium quality pineapple is worth up to 495 gold.

2 Taro Root

Taro root is a crop that reports from the traditional fruits in vegetables found in the game. To grow taro, the player will need to acquire a taro tuber from the island trader for two bone fragments. This is another summer crop for the valley, and it will take ten days to finish growing. It is used in the poi recipe, and a taro plant will constantly produce the crop every seven days. Taro can be sold for as low as 100 gold and as high as 165 gold.

1 Qi Fruit

The last new crop added to the game is Qi fruit. Qi fruit will only be accessible once Qi’s room is unlocked and the player has expected the Qi fruit quest. The fruit is partially useless as it isn’t used in any recipes, sells for one gold, and has little nutritional value. Luckily, the fruit only takes four days in total to grow and is able to grow at any time of the year.
