Get ready to dive back into the relaxing world of Stardew Valley soon as Concerned Ape (Eric Barone) has shared some news on the next update.
Barone said in a tweet that “the update is coming along steadily” with some “good milestones” being met. For those dedicated enough to finish the game, Barone has stated that it will have a “significant new piece of end-game content.”
Also, scrupulous players of the game may be able to figure out that a backdoor has been added to Willy’s shop by looking at the image he provided. We’re wondering what’s lying behind there!
No release date has been given for the next update, as of yet, as the developer is still in the “nose to the grindstone” phase of making this happen. The last major update, v.1.4, was published in November 2019 and added an abandoned building, 14 heart events for every spouse (which provided scenes after marriage), and fish ponds that had the farmer raise fish and produce roe.
ConcernedApe has been updating the game, since 2016, with free content, and in January 2020, Stardew Valley sold over 10 million copies worldwide. It’s incredible how the developer is still updating the game to this very day, and the sales figures are rewarding his hard work. Perhaps, these sales will continue, as Animal Crossing: New Horizons has put the farming/life simulation genre back into the limelight. Stardew Valley is also 40% off right now during the Steam Summer Sale.

Barone is now working on two new projects that are in the same universe as Stardew Valley. He said that one wouldn’t be a farming game, and the other will tie into Stardew Valley in some way. However, he did say back in February not to get too excited as he’d “like to just make whatever game comes naturally to [him] without too much pressure or expectation.” It sounds like they’re far away from being released at this point in time as the developer has been vague so far.
While you wait to hear about his next project, Stardew Valley is available on the PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch, Vita, and mobile devices. No next-gen versions have been announced as of yet.
