As soon as you start a new save file in Stardew Valley, one of the first things you’ll do is cleaning up your farm. It will be filled with rocks, weeds, wood, and fiber. Although at first Fiber may seem like a pretty useless item that you can sell for one gold each, it actually has quite a lot of uses.
Certain recipes that most players are bound to use frequently require Fiber, such as the scarecrow and the deluxe scarecrow, warp totems, wild bait, and all sorts of other useful items. On top of that, the Junimo Hut building requires a total of 100 Fiber.
There are a couple of ways to farm Fiber. One of them is more passive whereas the other method is a bit more grinding. We’ll go over all of them so you can decide which way works best for you. Or, you can do opt by doing both at the same time.
Find Fibre On Specific Levels In The Mines
There are a few specific levels in the mines that are perfect for farming Fiber if you don’t mind taking a more active approach and doing some grinding.
If you cut down weeds in the game, there is a 50 percent chance that it will drop one Fiber. Level 25-29 and 105-109 in the mines have an abundant amount of weeds meaning you can spend as much time as you want going up and down, redoing these levels until you’re satisfied with the amount of Fiber you have on you.
As you do this you can also farm Fiber passively with Fiber Seeds.
Collecting And Planting Fiber Seeds
Fiber seeds were actually only introduced in update 1.5 of the game so they’re still a fairly recent addition and many players might not be quite familiar with them yet.
Firstly, you need to do the Community Cleanup quest for Linus. Each time you craft it, you’ll get a total of four Fiber Seeds. To craft them you’ll need one Mixed Seed, five Sap, and one Clay.
Fibre seeds take seven days to be fully grown, they can be harvested with a Scythe and will drop between four and seven Fiber when harvested. On top of that, these seeds can be planted and harvested in the Winter as well as any other season. So, you can go to the mines and let the seeds grow as you keep on farming.
Other Ways To Obtain Fiber
There are other ways to get more Fiber. You can’t really farm them but it will still matter in the long run and slowly help you.
The Desert Trader, in the Calico Desert, the merchant will five Stone for one Fiber but only on Tuesday. If you can spare some Stone then this is a great bargain.
If you’re playing in the Wilderness Farm map, slay every Wilderness Golems you encounter as they have a 90 percent chance of dropping Fiber and a 50 percent chance of dropping an extra Fiber.
