Stardew Valley recently had a ton of new end game content added-in with the version 1.5 update. While many players are focusing on the new beach farm and getting to Ginger Island, others have taken notice of the flurry of quality of life changes mixed in with the new quests. These small touches help to make the game more enjoyable, hopefully extending its life for years to come. The 1.5 update introduced some small touches that make playing Stardew Valley just a little bit more immersive.

While some changes are just nice additions to the already sprawling game, others have been on players’ wishlists since the very beginning.

10 Moving The Bed

Stardew Valley goes a step farther than most other farming games by letting the players decorate their home using a variety of flooring types, wallpapers, and furniture. Players can craft the house of their dreams and assign rooms for certain tasks like sowing or displaying fish.

One thing that players couldn’t do is move the bed; with 1.5, though, players are now able to make their bedroom any room in the house.

9 Sitting

With all the chairs around Pelican Town, it’s no surprise that tired farmers would want to kick back and take a break. The only problem was that players couldn’t sit down on any of the chairs or benches in the game; some NPCs like Penny, on the other hand, could easily relax on a bench.

Sitting has finally been added into the game, and while it doesn’t really have a function, it’s a nice touch.

8 Ducks Swimming

Players absolutely lost their mind when Concernedape posted a picture online with ducks actually floating on the water. Up until version 1.5, ducks acted like all other coop animals and simply walked around on the ground once they were let outside.

Now, if a water source is nearby, players can watch their ducks waddle on down and begin paddling around in the lake.

7 Lost & Found Box

With the introduction of multiplayer, many fans took to Discord and Reddit to try and find fellow farmers to play with it. Each farmer had their own inventory, and many times, players would share resources like upgraded tools in order to save money when possible.

This would often lead to players being stuck without important materials. Now players can retrieve items from an offline farmer’s inventory by visiting the lost and found box.

6 Outdoor Furniture

It’s not hard to run out of space once players begin really getting into the late game. There were already a ton of housing items available for purchase, and 1.5 added in around 100 new items for players to place around both their house and their farm, overwhelming some.

Luckily, most items now can be placed outside, with the exception of things like the player’s bed.

5 Talking While on Your Horse

Another annoyance that many people faced was trying to get to know villagers after acquiring a horse. Riding a horse allowed you to get around the town much faster than before. This meant more tasks could get done in a day unless it involved talking to an NPC that you were passing by.

Before 1.5, you would have to jump off of the horse to chat and then get back on afterward to continue your other tasks.

4 Community Center Donations

The community center used to be a bit more annoying to complete due to quality. Items can have four different quality rankings, which are a bit random at first. Because of this, you would often end up not being able to group items together to donate them to a bundle.

In some cases, this even could mean waiting a whole year before completing a bundle. Luckily the community center now allows for quality mixing.

3 Inventory Sorting

The later a player gets into the game, the more diverse their inventory will become. This is especially true when trying to sort through crops on harvesting day and can make sorting later on an absolute nightmare. Luckily, 1.5 now makes it possible to sort by an item’s quality rating.

This makes sorting out profits, festival items, and even crafting ingredients much easier.

2 Sprinkler Improvements

Anyone who has previously focused on farming knows that sprinklers can be touchy. While the season was going, they were great and made things easy. When it came time to make room for more crops or redo afield, though, sprinklers tended to be an absolute nightmare as touching them with the hoe placed them back into the player’s inventory.

Thankfully, hoes can no longer break sprinklers. Consequently, getting fields ready for the next season is easier than ever.

1 Saving Journey of the Praire King

The Journey of the Praire King is one of the hardest parts of the game, as it is an unforgiving mini-game that frustrates a majority of the game’s fans. Previously, players would have to take the arcade game on in a single go as leaving would mean having to start all over again.

To ease the pain of this insanely hard game, ConcernedApe graciously decided to include a save feature for tired players to use.
