One of the many great things about Stardew Valley’s 1.5 update is the number of new machines added, such as the Bone Mill and the Auto-Petter. These machines improve quality of life drastically, saving time on petting animals and getting more out of the many fossil items you find during your farming career. If you’re a big fan of the fighting and mining mentioned previously, you may find the Geode Crusher a worthy addition to the collection of machines on your farm.

What Is The Geode Crusher?

The Geode Crusher is in the category of refining equipment, as it technically turns what you place inside it into something else (e.g. a Charcoal Kiln turns 10 Wood into 1 piece of Coal). The machine will open any type of Geode, though it takes 1 piece of Coal to operate and will take 1 in-game hour to complete the process.

It acts as an alternative to going to Clint’s Blacksmith shop to have him open them for you for 25g each. This is useful for players who make trips into the Mines and Skull Caverns often and find themselves with an abundance of Coal and Geodes. Unfortunately, the Geode Crusher cannot open Artifact Troves, so Clint isn’t completely obsolete.

Completing Clint’s Special Order

  • Bats: Bats are basically everywhere in dungeons since there are several variations of them. Keeping a sword on you to stop them from getting too close is recommended — make sure to time your swings well. If you have any children you have turned into doves using the Dark Shrine and have seen the TV program named “???” on Fall 26, you’ll know that a haunted Ancient Doll permanently lives in the Witch’s Hut. Defeating this doll counts as slaying 50 Bats, which can make this quest absurdly easy. Dust Sprites: These guys can be found primarily in the Ice levels of the Mines (which are levels 40 to 79) and drop Coal 50% of the time when defeated. They’re pretty easy to kill and they spawn in small groups, so repeating some floors should do the job. Skeletons: These monsters are nothing but bones, but they may still be tricky if you’re a lower level. Just hunt for them continuously between floors 71-79 of the Mines and bring Bombs if you want some security. Killing 50 Skeletons will also allow you to complete the Skeleton Monster Eradication Goal if you haven’t completed it already. You’ll also get plenty of Bone Fragments, which will come in handy if you have the Bone Mill machine. Grubs: Grubs are easy to kill if you can do it quickly; otherwise they will go into their invincible cocoon and come out flying and ready to kill. If you’ve unlocked the Mutant Bug Lair in the Sewer, this will make it a little easier to get to 50 Grubs, though a trip through the early levels of the Mines may be necessary as well — specifically floors 11 through 29.
