The Starfield trailer from today’s E3 Xbox showcase has confirmed that the game will be an Xbox console exclusive when it launches next year.
While the Xbox/Bethesda showcase hasn’t started yet, the trailer for Starfield has been leaked ahead of the livestream. The trailer showcases alpha gameplay from the upcoming open-world RPG and reveals the game’s official release date, November 11, 2022. Those excited for Starfield might bristle at that release date, but it aligns with what little information we’ve learned about development of the game so far.
After Microsoft acquired Bethesda earlier this year, many expected that future Bethesda games would be exclusive to Xbox. While every modern Bethesda game prior to the acquisition was available on both PlayStation and Xbox, Starfield will only be playable on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Xbox and Bethesda are expected to make a number of big announcements and reveals during today’s presentation. Fans of The Elder Scrolls are hoping to get some more information about Elder Scrolls 6, which was announced at E3 2019, but no further information has yet been revealed. Hopefully, we’ll hear more about Arkane’s newest game, as well as updates on Halo Infinite, scheduled for release later this year.
