Yesterday afternoon, both Valve and industry pundit Geoff Keighley announced that the next Steam “Game Festival” would be taking place from June 9 to June 14, 2020. Similar to past iterations of the event (which started with The Game Awards last winter), demos of upcoming titles and indie games will be playable for a few days.

As Keighley noted in his Twitter post, he’s looking to expand the Game Festival to other platforms. Whether or not that means this particular summer event will be on PS4 and Xbox One remains to be seen, but this follows true with his earlier words. He doesn’t want only PC gamers to get in on the fun.

As for Valve’s part, the company launched a page on Steam that lets users sign-up for a reminder of the digital event. With Steam constantly bombarding you with pop-ups every time you sign in, I don’t think anyone could miss this. Still, it’s nice to have some kind of notification in case life becomes too much.

It will be interesting to see what titles are playable this time out. If the event does come to consoles, could a Nintendo version see a demo of Breath of the Wild 2? Would Nintendo even be willing to do that? There are so many possibilities here.
