As tight of a ship as Valve might run, it can never plug every leak. According to some sources on Twitter, it looks as if the Steam Summer Sale 2020 will begin on June 25, 2020. Running until July 9 (roughly two weeks), this data comes from Chinese sources that leaked the information online. It was later confirmed by SteamDB’s Pavel Djundik.

Curiously, these are the same dates as last year’s sale. It is possible that Valve personally leaked fake information to throw everyone off the trail, but the summer sale is typically the largest event for Steam. Posting discounts up to 90% off in some cases, it’s become something of a meme with how many games people will buy and inevitably not play.

As for what we can expect to be on sale, Doom Eternal is actually quite likely. The game was recently marked down 25% this past weekend and Bethesda loves throwing things on discount within weeks of release. We will probably see Borderlands 3 get a steep cut again and some other titles that made the jump from the Epic Games Store to Steam.

In the run-up to the launch of next-generation consoles, expect to see publishers trying to shift copies of their older titles to generate buzz in new stuff.
