It’s that time of the year that PC gamers anticipate and fear, as the Steam Summer Sale 2020 officially began Thursday morning. Thousands of PC games are now discounted anywhere from 10% to 80%, and Steam users can peruse the store and make the most of the Steam Summer Sale between now and July 9 at 10:00 am PT.
This year’s Steam Summer Sale meta event is the opening of what Valve is calling the Points Shop. The Points Shop sells everything from animated stickers and avatars to emoticons from some of Steam’s best games. 100 points are earned for every $1.00 spent on Steam, and both a user’s points and the store itself are permanent additions. They won’t disappear with the end of the event.
In addition to the Points Shop, Valve is also offering another special meta deal to Steam shoppers during the Summer Sale. This perk is especially useful for those looking for a great discount. Steam users will save $5 for their first purchase over $30 during the sale. This is only available for users’ first qualifying purchase.
As with all of Steam’s major sales events, there are so many new games discounted that it’s difficult to keep track of them. Borderlands 3 is 50% off, Resident Evil 3 is 34% off, Doom Eternal is 50% off, Red Dead Redemption 2 is 20% off, and so many others are available at great prices. All those deals and more will be available through July 9 on Steam.
