Those looking forward to saving big on PC titles this summer through Steam won’t have to wait much longer, as PayPal UK has taken the liberty of revealing that the date of Steam’s Summer Sale for 2017 is set to begin on June 22, 2017. More precisely, the annual sales extravaganza on the digital distribution platform will begin at 1:00 PM ET / 4:00 PM PT starting on the aforementioned date.
While PayPal’s tweet below regarding the beginning of Steam’s Summer Sale isn’t exactly official since Valve has yet to confirm the dates, it’s worth noting that last year’s sale began roughly around the same time. As it so happens, Steam’s Summer Sale for 2016 started on June 23, which would put 2017’s sale just a day behind last year’s markdown event.
For those unaware, this isn’t the first instance of Paypal outing the start of Steam’s seasonal sale dates. In addition to spoiling the surprise ahead of last year’s Summer Sale, the international payment company also let slip the Winter Sale dates for 2016. With this being the case, it’s quite likely that Paypal’s announcement regarding 2017’s Summer Sale dates are accurate.
While many are definitely prepared to empty their wallets to get the best deals possible for the season, it has yet to be confirmed which titles will be receiving discounts, much less how deep the price cuts will be. If it’s anything like previous events, though, fans should set aside a hefty sum of savings and get ready to splurge.
As soon as the Summer Sale for 2017 gets underway, Steam users will surely be spending a considerable amount of time sifting through the platform’s rather large catalog of PC titles in order to find the best possible prices. Thankfully, Valve updated the store several months ago in order to offer users better and more personalized game recommendations so as to facilitate faster and more satisfying transactions, which has hopefully been a benefit to most, if not all fans using the service.
