The iPhone has no shortage of great wireless controllers, but SteelSeries is hoping to up the ante with its latest offering — the Nimbus+ Wireless Gamepad. Featuring clickable joysticks, new triggers, and over 50 hours of battery life, the gadget is perfect for long gaming sessions on your smartphone.
SteelSeries isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel with the Nimbus+. Instead, the company is building off the already-successful Nimbus controller — the best-selling mobile controller on the market. People familiar with the Nimbus will recognize this new gamepad immediately, as the design is almost identical. However, the incredible battery life, optimized button mapping, dedicated navigation buttons, a high-performance Bluetooth module for easy connectivity, and the included iPhone Mount are likely to make this the new go-to controller for mobile gamers.
The device is currently only available for purchase on Apple.com but will be listed on SteelSeries website on May 26. Apple is charging $69.95 for the premium device, a price that seems reasonable for everything offered. Seeing as the original Nimbus currently runs for $49.95, we’re going to bet that the $20 increase won’t be high enough to deter customers.
Better yet, the controller works with all Apple products, including Mac and Apple TV.
