In Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, life can get pretty hectic for what’s supposed to be a chilled-out experience. There are crops to tend to and animals to care for, creating a task list that can get pretty long. Beginners to the game especially can be left feeling like they have no time left to make friends, explore the town, and go mining.

Luckily the nature sprites are here to help. These colorful creatures can water and harvest your crops as well as care for your animals. All they require in return is love and friendship. We’ll show you how to befriend the harvest sprites in order to benefit from their help on your farm.

How to find and befriend the nature sprites

The sprites can be found in a hut in the top right corner of the map. To get there simply head up to the church and then follow the path that runs up the right-hand side of it. This will lead you to the Sprites hut which opens at 9am.

In order to be able to seek help from the sprites, you’ll need to befriend them first by giving them gifts. Each sprite loves items that are the same color as they are. Mostly this is quite easy to manage since the red sprite likes apples, the orange one oranges, etc. Each sprite also likes grass or other items of their corresponding color and every single one loves flour which you can buy for 50g each in the general store.

You can give each sprite one gift per day by holding it in your hand and then hitting the interact button next to the sprite of your choice. If you buy flour you can also spend an extra 50g to get it gift-wrapped. This improves your relationship quicker than gifting it as it is. After a few days, the sprites will like you enough to open up new interactions.

Talking to the sprites, playing with them and attending their tea party if you’re invited, will all help keep them happy and leave you able to call on them for help.

Getting help on your farm

Sprites can all be assigned a different job. They will water crops, harvest crops, or care for animals. While caring for animals involves the largest number of tasks, since they will feed and brush them as well as harvesting and shipping any byproducts they produce, it actually takes the least amount of time. Due to this, it’s worth assigning extra sprites to water crops, since this takes the longest and the sprites only stick around for a set amount of time or until they finish the set task.

As sprites work they’ll gain experience. You can also raise this by playing minigames with them. Their experience is tied to specific tasks so it’s worth making sure you have sprites trained in each task so they become more efficient as your farm grows.

Watering crops takes the most time so assign more sprites to this task, especially as you begin to grow more. Crops are the most profitable aspect of farming so you’ll want to prioritize them.

Keeping the sprites happy

If you work your sprites hard without giving them a break then they will refuse to work for you. To prevent this you need to keep talking to them and offering them gifts. You can do this when they arrive in the morning, saving a trip up to the hut and allowing you to do it before 9am.

It’s also good to rotate the sprites you ask for help every few days so you can make sure they have some time to rest. If you look after them, they’ll look after you and in no time your farm will be thriving.
