While the world is excited about the new information teased about Harvest Moon: One World’s male protagonist, many fans of the series are still playing the remake of Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town that was released earlier this year. The game is pretty difficult in places; it kind of drops the player into the world without much in the way of tutorials or help. But no need to flounder blindly to start growing some plants.

Buying Seeds

In the 2020 remake of Friends of Mineral Town, there are two main locations players can purchase seeds to get their farms started. The first is the General Store at the top right in the town. The second is the wooden beach house near the pier.

General Store Information

The General Store will have a selection of in-season only seeds that players can choose from, ensuring that no seed is planted in the wrong season. The General Store is open Wednesday to Saturday and Monday, from 9 am to 5 pm. The store is closed on both Tuesdays and Sundays and at night, so players will have to pay close attention to the time and day. While these hours are a little more realistic than games with stores open all day every day, like Nook’s Cranny in ACNH that’s only closed for renovations and late at night, the shortened hours can be annoying.

Beach Shop Information

In Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, the second store that players can look for is the wooden house on the beach. It’s east of town, so keep heading east until there is a beach. Near the pier, there will be a little house that players can shop in that features certain exotic items on rotation and some seeds.

Not only does this little shop sell crop seeds, but also flower seeds that can be used as gifts or decoration. However, be warned: not all the seeds will be in season, so make sure to check the calendar to ensure seeds won’t go to waste. Players should be able to find resources online for seasonal flowers and crops, even if Friends of Mineral Town just came out yesterday.

Which Seeds to Buy

If players are looking to farm a little money in SoS, they will want to focus on a certain veggie for each season of the year. The fastest growing and most profitable of all the crops is the turnip, similar to the Stalk Market in ACNH. But turnips can only be grown in the spring.

During the summer, players will want to focus on tomatoes and corn. During the fall, yams and eggplants are great for turning a profit. And in the winter, players won’t be able to farm much of anything, so save seeds for when the Harvest Goddess rises again in spring.

Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town is available for the Nintendo Switch and Steam.
